Would it be possible to make this: Each user should have a prefered smilies window(similar to the one left from the message) in their reply page. People could chose their favorites and add them to the window, I and many others tend to use smilies like these:  :hmm:  :wallbash: often.

I know this proberly is´nt possible but i like the idea.

It'd be a little cluttered IMO. That's a reason why I dislike Apolyton; too many installed hacks that make the screen load funny.

Besides if you used them really often, you'd know what the cB quick thing would be. I'm in quick reply and I remember...

:) :mischief: :( ;) :wallbash: :hmm:  :queen:

Why is it that the common spelling is "smilies"? "Smile" has an "e" at end, even though its silent. It probably should be "smileys" or "smileies." This doesnt matter at all, but its seems interesting, at least to me, in development of language. (Yoda, I assume you realize that this was not at all directed at you.)

When I wrote the preceding post, I didnt see that Sultan had started a thread with "smiley." I guess the spelling is still up in the air.

Kojimanard, I think the spelling is "smilie." Therefore, the plural of this would be smilies.

WillJ, is "smilie" the correct singular or is it "smiley"? Thats the issue, the plural just follows from that. Thanks for responding.

Generally, "smiley" is the preferred singular form or the word. It started life as an adjective: "He was a smiley, friendly person", and the word was then borrowed as a noun to describe the little happy faces.

In English, as a general rule, plurals don't end in "-eys". That sound is represented by "-ies". Therefore, the plural form of "smiley" is "smilies".

Since they don't animate on my computers i don't reaaaaaly care, but i like :hmm: :) ;) :p :arrgh:  :flamingdevi:
