Preorder Civ5 on Amazon.com!

No exact release date has been set according to Amazon, although the game is expected to come out in the fall of this year. Civ4 was released in late October 2005, so it is possible that Civ5 would aim for a similar timeframe.

Also note that Civ5 comes on a DVD, which is new for American players (Civ4 was on 2 CDs), and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

I wonder if their hype of the modding support and focus is related to Jon Shaefer being the design lead? IIRC, he designed the (quite excellent) WWI/Battle for Southeast Asia mods for vanilla.

Meh - I waited for this thing for 5 years. An extra day or two won't save me, and at least I'll have a physical copy in my hands.

I won't be pre-ordering, until it is confirmed whether there will be special edition or not.

Looking forward to it. I just hope they wont push the release date further, although i appreciate a full completed game more than a half completed one. Thank god EA isn´t the publisher of the Civ games.
