Preview: Giants

@Redking
I wasn't inspired by (or aiming at) D&D, not by something particular really. Giants were requested by GIDustin, and from cards they look pretty generic. The Fire one had a horn in his head, I'll add it too probably. Myself I only need the Hill Giant for my mod, there are no "fire", "frost" etc. giants in Warhammer, I at least I think so.

@Ossiric
It's a loincloth, not strings :p You have no idea how hard it is to find clothes for him! And I bet he would have the same problem if he lived in RL.

@Mithadan
I was thinking of it, but I don't have tools needed to make strone-throwing giant (he needs at least some bag to keeps rocks in, does he? alternatively he can pick up magically appearing rocks from the ground...)

@Dom Pedro II
No, I don't have Freak. It's just oversized M2, that's why it's so hard to add any clothes to him. The boots took a while, I had to paint his feet actually, because they stand out from boots in many places.

I think he can pick up magical boulders from the ground. A two-handed boulder, so to speak :crazyeye: would look awsome, IMNSHO. So you'd just have to find a "rock prop" (and I'm not talking about leather jackets here ;) ).

I geuss that's a no then to several Giant units? Ok, a couple is better than none. :D

I concurr! :)

progress screenshot: Norse Giant :viking: :p , Hill Giant, Fire Giant. Honestly I like only the 1st one. The 2nd is here because I don't see a way to make the 1st one throw boulders with both hands, when he's carrying a club.

Nope!

No Poser clothes fit a model with such overgrown muscles sorry... the boots and loincloth is the best I could do.

The helmet feels a bit awkward since he is so unclothed in other respects. Naturally my opinion is biased since it's largely based on my own needs, but I kinda liked him better without it. But a simple helmet is by no means a problem for me. It looks great either way.

But what do you mean you don't like the Fire Giant?! He's absolutely perfecto! Hill giant's head feels somehow strange though. Should it be a little larger? Maybe a bit more detail in general for him? For example, are giants into tattoos?

@Embryodead,

I could send you the freak model, but, you'd need M3 to use him, Although I don't have many clothes for the freak. I might have something that would fit your oversize m2. Are you actally increasing the size of m2, or are you just "zooming" in on him to make him look bigger. If you do the latter, your confirming m2 clothes should work.

I don't have M3 either. As for the M2, it's not increasing the size or zooming, in which case clothes would fit of course (but he would look wimpy, just a human zoomed-in). He has distorted proportions (shorter legs, longer arms, huge hands and feet, wider chest and collar etc.) and all kinds of heavy- and musle- morphs. The only things I can use are non-conforming stuff like armor-parts, but I don't really want armored giant.
I think the 1st one looks ok without clothing, but 2nd and 3rd look quite boring. I don't think tattoos are apt here, but I'll try adding some scars.

I was just thinking that maybe the giant could be given the stats 6-6-1 and be assigned as the barbarian advanced unit. That would mean that barbarians would atleast be somewhat of a threat, instead of the extremely minor nuisance that they are now. I think that it would be extremely fun with those giants running around :D

As you might have guessed I like my giants with hair and beard, but without a silly helmet. :viking: :mad:

I prefer the preview at the top of the thread. :)

In-game screenshot comparing size giant with other big and small figures. What I hate is that when a character comes out of magenta background, it suddenly seems to be annoyingly red :mad:

Nah, it's great. :)

And if it's too red for your taste, doesn't a simple storyboard editing fix it? I mean, you don't have to render it again just for a slight color alteration?

Now being a troll/giant slayer really means something :D

However, wityh the green colour for the nation, when seen on the grassland, it oddly seems as if the loincloth isn't there, at some angles.

Pretty sweet, man.
