Persia SG

Turn 0 (2350BC) - Inherited turn.  We have no exploration of the map except around our 2 cities? We have no explorers at all? What happened to them?

Persia_SG_2350BC.jpg

Anyway, lower Science to 40%, still get The Wheel in 30. Change preferences to wait at the end of every turn.

Turn 1 (2310BC) - Nothing.

Turn 2 (2270BC) - Road to Pasargadae completed.

Turn 3 (2230BC) - WTH?!! :spank: Worker was left on Automate? NEVER leave a worker on Auto or a goto in an SG without letting the next person know. You should never have a worker on Auto this early in the game anyway.

Turn 4 (2190BC) - Spearman trained at Persepolis, start Warrior for exploration.

Turn 5 (2150BC) - Spearman fortified in Pasargadae.

Turn 6 (2110BC) - Warrior trained, starts exploration to NW.

Turn 7 (2070BC) - Exploration continues, Warrior sees Furs to NW of Persepolis.

Turn 8 (2030BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 9 (1990BC) - Meet Zulu Scout near Furs. Trade Masonry for The Wheel & 35G (all of his gold). Shaka also has Iron Working & Ceremonial Burial. Trade 66G for CB. Shaka won't trade IW. Set research to IW at 80% to get in 17 turns.

Turn 10 (1950BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 11 (1910BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 12 (1870BC) - You guessed it.

Turn 13 (1830BC) - More of the same.

Turn 14 (1790BC) - Ditto.

Turn 15 (1750BC) - Settler created in Persepolis. Sent to found city near the Furs. 2nd Warrior started to explore the south. Warrior in North sees Zulu border.

Turn 16 (1725BC) - Exploring & working. Shaka still won't trade IW.

Turn 17 (1700BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 18 (1675BC) - Susa founded on hill near Furs.

Turn 19 (1650BC) - 2nd Warrior completed, Granary started in Persepolis for faster worker/settler production.

Turn 20 (1625BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 21 (1600BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 22 (1575BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 23 (1550BC) - Barrack in Pasargadae completed, can now be Military producer. Southern Warrior discovers silks.

Turn 24 (1525BC) - Adjust Science to 20%, IW in 1, +9G.

Turn 25 (1500BC) - IW discovered, start on Alphabet at 80%. Will be discovered in 11 turns. We have Iron SW of Persepolis.

Turn 26 (1475BC) - Zulu have silks in their border as well. Shaka has both Horses & Iron already connected. Has Horseback Riding but won't trade.

Turn 27 (1450BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 28 (1425BC) - Horses discovered SW of Persepolis, but not in border. Worker sent to connect Iron for Immortals.

Turn 29 (1400BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 30 (1375BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 31 (1350BC) - Exploring & working.

Turn 32 (1325BC) - Furs connected to Susa. Persia is listed as the 8th Most Powerful nation. Road from Susa to Persepolis started.

Turn 33 (1300BC) - Granary in Persepolis completed. Start Spearman for city needed to SW for Horses.

Summary: There is a Spearman fortified near the Silks where I think the Settler from Pasargadae should go. It gets both the Silks & Fish in its radius on expansion. After the Spearman in Persepolis is complete, I would suggest a Settler and then get a city SW of the capital to get the Horses in our borders. Also, don't forget to adjust the Science slider next turn as Alphabet will be discovered the turn after.

Here is the World as we know it now:

And here is the Save:Persia SG

sorry, i have a bad habit of automating+ first sg
also, i usually play w/ barbs so i set of a defense before exploring.

/me casts Become Trainer
OK. 1: Spearmen?? This is a fairly common mistake early on. Warriors are better to build in the beginning. I can read you thoughts, you are thinking *spearmen defend better and I have the tech* . But warriors take half the time, so you an make some of them to explore. And- Do you prefer 1spear+1archer as an attack force or 4 warriors? same shield cost, and the give more MP.

We got iron...so I say we crank out those Immortals and take over the Zulus.

sim_one and hotrod are on the wait list in that order.

one of the waiting ppl can step in. i'm going to pull out of this one.

Ok since falsfire is out I guess I will take over his turn as the 3rd person to go?

yes, you may now fill falsfire's spot
here is the list
1.naervod-1
2. Tiamat- 1
3. Sim_one- <======
4. Eric Mesoy-0
5. Firestarter-0

Ok found some spare time so won't need 2 days. :goodjob:

Turn 0. 1300 BC-Pasagardae builds settler, start archer. Changed lotta preferences: color blind help, show (not animate) enemy, friend, automated and manual moves, no animate battles, etc. I can't believe both show and animate friendly/enemy moves were off before. If you don't like them feel free to change them.

1. 1275-Settler to north of Pasagardae, researched Alphabet, start on writing. Zulus start building Oracle.

2. 1250-English builds Colussus. We now have iron, switch spearman and archer production to Immortals

3. 1225-Recall two veteran warriors back to cities for upgrade. I'm so glad my predecessors built barracks. :goodjob:

4. 1200-Susa is connected to capital. Trade Alphabet to Zulus for 66 gold after refusing to trade for the other techs (Mysticism and Horseback). Will use money for upgrade to Immortals.

5. 1175-Not much

6. 1150-Warriors upgraded

7. 1125-Immortal built in Persepolis. Shaka builds Isandhlwana just a little too close to us. Mobilize Immortals to take the city.

8. 1100-Troop movements

9. 1075-Founded Arbela, Pasagardae builds Immortal. Worker to connect road to Arbela.

10. 1050-Declares war on Zulus

11. 1025-Settler built in Persepolis. Isandhlwana is destroyed (guarded only by a warrior). We get Golden Age. Although this GA is a little wasted because most of our squares are already producing two shields and despotism take away the bonus. No matter.

12. 1000-Troops move to attack main Zulu cities.

13. 975-More troop movements

14. 950-Founded Antioch near destroyed Isandhlwana. Researched Writing. Start Literature.

15. 925-Persepolis builds worker, starts the Pyramids. Zulus comes back again with a settler and a warrior and founds Isandhlwana little closer to their homeland but open to Immortal attacks. Fool! :D

16. 900-Immortal attacks Ulundi and kills an Impi.

17. 875-Arbela is connected to capitol, builds a spearman, starts on temple. Pasagardae builds Immortal and starts temple. Ulundi destroyed. :spank: Shaka is now willing to trade away Isandhlwana and one (but not two) tech for peace, but I decline.

18. 850-Immortal attacks Isandhlwana and kills an apparently pop-rushed Impi. Noticed population decreases in some Zulu cities due to pop-rush. They have iron and horses but they're apparently only building archers and Impis.

19. 825-Destroyed Isandhlwana again. We now have two elite Immortals. Iroqouis build Oracle.

20. 800-Troop movements into Zulu interiors.

Ok the war with the Zulus is going pretty well. We have not lost any Immortals yet but we got a couple with low health. Shaka now willing to trade Mysticism and Horseback for peace and the next player can decide if that is prudent but I'd say we got enough Immortals to wipe them out if they are deployed properly. :spank: I recommend switching from Pyramids to Great Library and some of the temples to libraries as soon as we get Literature in about 6 or 7 turns.

Just realized I made a dumb mistake--irrigated a grassland next to Susa. :wallbash: Change it to mine quickly while the GA is still around.

Sorry for the extra posts. I'm not experienced with attaching screenshots and files. Here's the save.

I'd be interested in joining and trying the succession games...would be my first though... seems like the rosters are all full though. Let me know...

OK, ZUlu are down to 1 city, try to capture it. Zimbabwe is making a settler, abandon zimbabwe and found a new city 1 square to the NW.
I say keep the Pyramids, crank out settlers and go for research. This could end up a spaceship victory, unless we drop into :tank: warfare.

What's Happening? Is this game Dead?
