Prince strategies fails miserbaly on Monarch

Ooooh those Ps, i forgott all about those matching Ps.:D

Anyway, it feels like I should rename this thread "Help me win my first monarch game".

Take a look on this load and come with som strategies about what to do next. Augustus on a continents map. This is the moment in the game it feels like I'm starting to loose control. I have nearly whiped out Ramses and got a big chunk of land. I'm going to sue for peace as soon as he starts to calm down. The continent is all buddhist, exept for Ramses with his lone crappy tundra city.

Saladin and Cyrus is pleased with me but isn't sharing as much as they could. I haven't played this game for about a week but either Saladin och Cyrus has got Philosophy and is on the track for liberalism. The main question here is what to research that the AI will trade for. Not specifically Philosophy but Cyrus and Saladin is getting advanced and they are going to leave me out when trading with each other.

I haven't decided wether I want the whole continent for my self or not. I think I do but my praets are starting to get outdated now. They are going up against longbows. Together with catapults they can still do their job but they has certainly lost that gruesome edge over the competition. The second war isn't going to be as easy as the war against Ramses.

I have open borders with Cyrus and Saladin and I know, it's kind if sloppy that their land areas is still blacked out. I'll train a scout soon and take a peak.

Well, I think I've done reasonably well this far. It's the late midgame that has been my problem on monarch so feel free to contribute with some input. And as some one pointed out preaviously, a GP farm is a good thing to have. I'm going to put one up but hasn't decided on the location yet.

Edit: And the win I'm aiming for is the space race. My teching and trading hasn't been the best on this difficulty so why not grab the bull by the horn. Just have to hog up enough land to achive it.

Bump! Bump! Really no point in this reply, except for me bragging about my first monarch win. According to plan it was a space race win and it was CRUSHING!:D . Victoria, Bismarck and Hannibal made som attempts to compete but my spies made sure they didn't get past SS Casing by destroing every pasture, piggy farm and aluminium mine in sight.:p I had built up to get a great engineer for the space elevator, for practically the whole game but got cheated on him every time. And then, within ten turn I spawned four (yes four !) of them. I burned two of them to get the elevator completed in one turn and burned the rest on techs that I didn' really need. I was so far ahead that I hadn't anything usefull for them to do. Burning a GS for fascism with 15 turns left in the game, oh well.

Well playing as Augustus Caesar, I got the rank as Augustus as well. Seems fair enough.

I just wanted to share this very important information with you. Now, let's all celebrate, the beers on me. As we say in Sweden, Skål ta mej fan!:king:

Did you have a unit factory city?

A city where you aim for maximium production, screw commerce, and spends all of it's time producing units and/or producing buildings to produce units?

By having such a city, your power grows during peace. This decreases the incentive for AIs to attack you, and increases the chance that you can go to war when you want to, not when the AI finds it useful.

It can get expensive having a standing army, but moreso not having one.
