I downloaded and installed the 1.29f patch.
But, when i tried it, i got no menu.
Just a background and small letter in the bottom that said

You look so lovely when you lose
We crushed you, saw you driven before us, and hear the lamentation of your people!
Consider your lawn MOWED!
All you're leading is Jack and spit. Jack just left town.

Help me please

Well, if you have a purchased copy of Civ3 and PTW then you shouldn't have any problems with the game files. As for the patches, 1.29f is for Civ3, and 1.27f is for PTW. Where did you download the patches from? What I would do is uninstall the games and delete the folders, then reinstall Civ3 and PTW, and patch them both (grab the patches from this site).

It's a funny message actually, hope that it didn't do anything else to your computer other than mess up your game. But seriously, I've never seen anything like that before, maybe someone here knows something about this. Is this some sort of evil easter egg?

Ooops
I'm sorry
I mean the 1.27f patch that i downloaded from this forum.
Maybe i could post a screenshot..
But please tell me how

I'm not quite sure how, but I imagine you would need to take the screenshot on your computer, and then upload it to a site like photobucket. That site would give you a URL for the image, which you would then paste into the box that comes up when you click on the picture of the mountain and sun (7th from the left) in the quick reply box.

I'm sorry.
I mean how i could take a screenshot from my computer.
Not how to post it

On the top row of your keyboard there is a "Prnt Scrn" key, or some shorter or longer combination of letters that mean 'print screen.' Its to the right of the F12 key. You hit that key when you want to copy what's displayed on the screen. You then need to open an image editor like Paint, and paste. Save the file, and you have a screenshot. You can also use a program like Fraps to take screenshots and automatically save them for you into a folder.

Alt + PrintScreen will only 'capture' whatever has the focus, not the full screen. For Civ this is the same thing, so don't worry.

But, if another program ever gave you an error box, Alt + PrintScreen would only select that error box and not the entire screen.

I have used this trick (Alt + PrintScreen) to capture an error message and paste the image into Word, so that I can show the full messge to someone else. With using PrintScreen by itself, the entire screen is pasted into Word and then the error message cannot be read (it is too small).

I am running XP Pro SP2 and tried to install CIV III from CD but I am getting th is message The application or E:\ jdl.dll is not a valid Windowa image. Has any one come across this one before ? Any suggested solutions?
Much appreciated

I see a 'jgl.dll' in Vanilla, PTW and Conquests. I don't think it is an image file.

Can you get a picture of the error message?
