I have got a problem in my Monarch level Game at Epic Speed. I am playing with Russia. I have met 3 Civs yet; America, China, and Mali. America found Christianity. Both China and Mali adopted it. I haven't found or got any religion yet. I want to convert to Christianity. But None of my cities is converting to Christianity. I have open borders with America and Mali, and I am trading some stuffs with both of them. But I don't know what the heck is that the religion is not coming to any one of my cities. China is Annoyed with me. And probably would go at war with me. And if it does, I am sure both America and Mali would go down in relationship with me (As they care for their brothers and sisters  ). Damn!!!!!!!!!!

What to do now?

You have a trade route to the Christian holy city, correct?

Yeah. Washington found Christianity. And then everyone else adopted it. The first thing I did wast to have a connection with America. America is very much closer to me that I thought it wouldn't take even 5 turns to have Christianity in one of my cities. But hack....... It's been more than 20 turns and I couldn't get the religion.

You'll have to found a new city close to a Christian city for christianity to spontaneously spread. Religion doesnt automatically spread to cities where any religion is already present, so building a new city is the only way to try to import a religion. It's still a big gamble- you'll likely get one of your own religions to spread there. You can improve the odds by NOT connecting this new city to your road network, but rather connecting it by road to some Christian city.

In short, the AI doesnt do a very good job of spreading religions. If you really want Christianity, best way to do it is to invade, capture a christian city, switch to Organized Religion and pump out a few missionaries, then give the city back as a peace offering.

No to get Christianity one of two things must happen

1. you must have a totally Non religious city connected to the Christian Holy City (Open Borders is not necessary but a no War road/river/coast path is)
Closer to the Holy City Helps (and if the Shrine is built there that speeds it up too)
note: only the Holy city spreads religion, not other ones, andf only too nonreligious cities

OR

2. You must get a Missionary in (does require Open Borders)

Fortunately the civs you are with are not that religious focused... of course if they were, they would spread it more)

To hold off China, focus on building up your military, And see if you can do them any favors, you should get Christianity eventually and then you can convert and spread it quickly with Organized Religion. which should restore peace until Taosim and Islam get founded and send your continent back into war.

You sure you have open borders? It's possible that your annoyed status with China is blocking the chance for Christianity to spread.

Finally after around 30 Turns I got the religion. But this is something very interesting for everyone to know. I had 9 cities. My 2 borders (North and West/south) were Americans. South were Malis. And with both of them I had Open borders and good relations. Below them were Chinese who were Annoyed. The point is, NONE OF MY 9 CITIES HAD ANY RELIGION AT ALL. As America was the only one who found any religion in this continent, we didn't have another option than to adopt it. But none of my cities were catching the religion although I had Open Borders at all of my borders with both of the civilizations that had the relgion, and along with that all the border cities of America and Mali had the religion.
