Hey all,

So, after much pain and heartbreak, I've finally got Windows 8 Pro up and running. I'm currently in the midst of working on re-installing my programs.

Anyways, the issue I'm having is with the maps. The land doesn't come out looking like... well, the normal high quality land I usually have it set on. It just comes out as... color. No texture, no real land to begin with.

I've attached a screenshot of what it's suddenly looking like.

To those with experience, am I missing something? A graphics card? The game is suddenly running a lot slower than it ever did on Win 7.

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 5520.

Thanks guys!

If changing the texture options makes no difference, then there is a corrupted file or cache, that needs to be re-installed or re-initialized.

There seemed to be no resolution in this thread either.

Uh, sorry , meant the graphics card driver.
You should first check on the Dell website, if Dell offers a newer version.
If this is not the case, then you should check out the website from Intel, so see if they offer a newer version for the HD 3000.
Else...:dunno:.

On a related note, I've discovered the game works under Directx 9 and goes incredibly quickly when everything is on the lowest quality graphics. The problem with the land textures seemed to be gone on Directx 9.

I'm still incredibly confused though. Whenever I move the graphics (fog of war, land, sea, leaders, etc.) to a higher quality the game slows down tremendously.
