problems with the game

Buy a CD-ROM cleaner at Walmart for $5 and try that first. And/Or try cleaning the disk (if it only happens with Civ 2).

Edit: Opps....the cable may have come off the drive. Open up the computer and reseat (take off and put back on) the IDE (Gray Ribbon) cable, from the CD-ROM and the motherboard. Then reseat the the power cable (Red/Yellow/Black).

Other than that.....you will need a new drive.

when i put in a game it makes noise. then it says it cannot locate game and says to repeat search but it doesnot work. It is possable the reader of the cdrom does not work. I windows 98 2nd edition. Is there anyway to fix this without having to buy a new cdrom.

The disk may be bad. Will it play a music CD? Will it read other data CDs?

As a work-around for Civ II, try installing a NO-CD patch.

You can search at these places for your specific version:
