How hard is it to type CiV? Civ V and Civ 5 are redundant.

Civ V and Civ 5 are redundant.

The "v" in Civ V or Civ 5 represents the third letter of the abbreviated "Civilization", where as the following "V" or "5" represents the fifth in the series. As they represent two different things, it cannot be redundant.

CiV makes less sense than simply civ5. You still have to press either shift or capslock for the last (and maybe first letter) anyway so you aren't saving any keystrokes. Unless you are trying to save single characters from being saved to memory on the forum, there's no point.

Also, people tend to be inconsistent with how they capitalise letters, often for example capitalising the first two letters of a new sentence (e.g. "THat's what you think."). If you write CiV it's impossible to know if the odd capitalisation was intended or not. There's no such confusion with civ5.

This topic is kinda funny. :)

The evidence is clear - the simplest scheme is as follows:

civ1
civ2
civ3
civ4
civ5
civ6
etc.

Also Roman numerals are achaic (really, by definition!) and should be avoided because we have perfectly adequate (and superior) Hindu-Arabic numerals.

Oh great, now all the Roman nationalists will be swamping this thread with complaints and next thing you know they'll be wanting Rome in the g...Oh wait.

Roman numerals are elegant and considered classy. Just like Civ. ;)
