Proper abv. for Civilization V

Ick... I think it should be Civ V, but if you're going to call it ciV, at least capitalize the C! At least make it CiV then. ciV looks terrible. You have to capitalize the name of the freakin' game or it looks awful. I still say Civ V though because CiV looks too much like CIV, which people called Civ IV, and it'll get confusing.

But why? I mean, what is the possible benefit? CiV is fairly clever, but ciV is just desperately trying to squeeze the new game to fit the same format and it just ends up confusing. If someone says CiV you have no idea which they are talking about. Hell, if someone says ciV mid sentence you have no idea which they are talking about. It's just a really daft abbreviation to use that has no benefit.

Civ V definitely. Far less prone to bad capitalization and/or acidental doubled letters ( or of being confused with one ) issues than the other options in the poll. So, from my part "Your options suck"

Couldn't agree more. It works for Civ IV, but when you try to do it for Civ V, it just looks forced and ruins it.

I completely see your point, but have no intention of conceding. For the reasons I mentioned, I prefer ciV as the abbreviation. That being said, once a strong frontrunner is established, I, of course, intend to use it to avoid confusion.

I think the whole "official abbreviation" thing is silly too - call it what you want and hopefully nobody will get confused due to the context.

I imagine, either way, that none of the listed options will become the de facto abbreviation. My guess is that whatever tag (frontrunner now I believe to be the ciV 'V') will likely become the abbreviation

I will not acknowledge ciV or CiV. Not only is it ambiguous, it smacks of someone trying (and failing) to be clever about it.

We did not have CiI, CiII, CiIII or CiIV, so why suddenly on version 5 of the series do we need the lower case i for the second letter of the game's name?

It should be Civ V or Civ 5, the other suggestions are contrived, and would make less sense in later versions, Until you reach Civilization 104, which you may abbreviate to CIV without any negative comments from me.

cIV and ciV are just too easily mistaken. Civ 4, Civ 5 are quite simple to use.
