Actually, multi-player isn't that appealing to me.
I may play some - but the large block of time comminent doesn't work well for me.

I have a feeling most of the games will turn into war ASAP.
What I like about Civ3 is the multiple wins - trying for 100000 culture, 20000 pt culture city, and off-beat variants.

Yes, it would be very difficult to finish an entire multiplayer civ3 game in one sitting.

I guess 100% No means something. Even if There were only 8 votes so far

Certainly not. Look at my 'Game of Republic SG Variant'. It's a prelude to PTW, since you'll have control of more than one civ, and can play against each other, or team up. Or, even go at it with different groups.

I think it actually will open up new possibilites. If I understand correctly, PtW can be done as a turned based option as well as the more standard who has the fastest mouse approach. I would think there would be plenty of people interested in new types of SGs that would be there for us all based on turned based MP.

1) Two (or more) team SGs. One person from each team takes turns completing multi-turn sets. The results can be posted either after each turn (pretty intense) or at the end of the set. There would need to be three treads for this approach, one for the "dipolmacy" between teams and one for each team. The AI run cvis would be the wild cards, and the game could very well turn on who can line them up against the other.
2) Single person teams, but each one does a set number of rounds and then posts results in a thread for them. This one could really be fun for those who like to compare build orders and play styles.

These are just two new ones off of the top of my head. I am sure more variations well come out. I for one would love to see the changes. It might even bring in some new people, and even bring back some of the old and forgotten.

I hope it does not. I really enjoy following the games here. I've learned much by following the various games. Someday I'll have a PC at home with a working CD drive again and will be able to play. It been almost 2 years since my last Sid fix (SMAC). I'd play Civ2 until I launched and then would have a follow on game of SMAC. The $$$$ look much better this year and I am kind of glad that an updated version of Civ3 will be out by Xmas. It is suppose to have the 1.29 version on it. Until then I'll be lurking out here.

SGs will live on. Even though I don't play them anymore I remember when I did and it was a load of fun. MP will take to long to finish in a sitting and it can get boring waiting for your turn. With SGs you don't have to be online to wait for your turn which is great! :D

I'm sure there will still be SGs, and lots of them.

But personaly, I cant wait to crush Knight Dragon in a multi-player game...:p
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

 ;)
