Public Service Reminder: Don't forget the unlocking process...

Oh good, I can start decrypting when I leave for work and it'll be done when I get home (hopefully my computer won't go into Sleep mode and interrupt it). Unless I come home to find out it's waiting for my to click a "Next" or "Ok" button

my GEForce experience might also update come launch date, so maybe I will only be able to play this when I wake up the following morning.

Still, I do not understand. If they gave you DVDs, you wouldn't have to wait? If you had to download 12GB, you wouldn't have to wait?

You must understand that the only purpose of pre-downloads is to save the servers problems. It's not because they want you to play sooner or something.
I know that, you know that, but many people don't know and think they've got the game ready when it's preloaded and will get annoyed that they first need to download extra data en then decrypt the whole lot.
But people still... argue about minutes? LMAO
Mark my word, plenty of people will suddenly 'magically' (as in: VPN) be playing the game tomorrow afternoon, even though their location will not be Australia.
People are an impatient species.

I'm assuming it's both a decryption and a zero-day patch. Doom took my computer about 10-15 min* iirc, I assume Civ6 will be a bit shorter.

I just know there are some fragile folks out there who may not be expecting it is all... It's not widely advertised. :old:

(* Edit - which can be an eternity when you're trying to both sleep and play the game for a <cough> few minutes before work)

It was indeed the case that Civ V overloaded steam servers on the North American release date (which was three days before EU and rest of the world).
The steam servers were also overloaded for a few days right after Christmas that year.

BE's release was smoother, but I'm positive there were many more preorders for Civ VI than BE; so we'll just have to wait and see if the Zone 1 release overwhelms them.
