@WackenOpenAir:
Nothing has changed.
You may submit a QSC entry or a GOTM/COTM entry or both. A GOTM/COTM entry does not require a QSC entry, and you can submit only a QSC entry without completing the game.
A GOTM/COTM entry requires one save file from the turn after your victory/defeat (or turn before if you were conquered). You should keep a few intermediate saves from around 1000 BC, 50 AD ... in case we have queries about your submission and ask to see additional files.
A GOTM/COTM entry does not require any write-ups or participation in the spoilers if you don't want to. If you upload an additional file with your GOTM/COTM entry it is highly unlikely that anyone will ever see it. The facility is there purely to cater for people with the habit of uploading extra files from the past. Some people don't like change
A QSC entry requires a 1000 BC save file, and will reject one with any other date.
Sorry WackenOpenAir. A QSC entry also requires a timeline file, and your entry will be rejected if you don't include one. QSC timelines *will* be looked at each month in future, though the ones linked from past games have not been checked extensively.
Timelines should, as a minimum, log all the major decisions and events during the first 80 turns - initial moves and worker actions, scouting decisions and discoveries, build orders, research actions, contacts, trades, wars ..... "Why" is at least as important as "What".
A cheesy QSC timeline like "Played 80 turns, researched a bit, killed a barb or two, built 20 towns." doesn't cut it. The reason is this is not primarily a scoring exercise. It's a teaching tool. Scores are used so that different approaches to the game can be compared simply. The first 80 turns set the scene for the rest of the game, and without the write-up it is impossible for others to see how your game reached the 1000 BC state that is snapshotted by the raw data.
QSC timelines can be submitted as text, html, spreadsheets, Word documents. Just remember that anything you submit can only be read by people with the relevant software. Everyone around here can read text and html documents. Some people may have trouble reading spreadsheets or MS Word files.
