Havnt played Civ3 since the world patch came out. Used to be a big fan of Civnet, but was always so hard to finish games.

I read that you can now play by email, this is fantastic, my question is this though. Can you begin a game playing connected to each other (to get throught the quick turns when not much is happening) and then switch to PBEM later. Or does the entire thing have to be PBEM?

No, you can't turn a PBEM game into a multiplayer game, or vice versa. The reason is that when playing in PBEM "mode," you aren't connected, so if you're continuing from a multiplayer game, it will replace your MP opponent(s) with computer opponent(s).

However, if you and your opponent(s) schedule a time when all of you will be online and can get several turns in a short amount of time, but probably not enough for a multiplayer game, I recommend AOL Instant Messenger. If you need help with that, just say so. :)
