Question about victory.

There are six differnet victory conditions. In a game I played I eliminated the last AI and reached the domination victory limit and the next turn I won by conquest. Seems like conquest always comes before domination when both are achieved.

Now here's my question. What happens if you reach all victory conditions at the same time? :D

Imagine it's year 2049 AD, one turn left until you win by time. Now, during this turn your modern armours will take over the last AIs cities and by doing that you reach the domnination land %.

Also, the UN election is held this turn and you vote yourself a diplomatic victory because you have almost all population in the world.

You already have two cities with legendary culture and you have a city currently at 49900 with 500 culture per turn so you will achive cultural next turn.

One of your cities is producing the last space ship part with one turn left to be finished.

The next turn is year 2050 which means a time victory.

So which victory condition will you win by?
Is it conquest and if it is, what is the order after that?

You know what... That's a really good quesiton!

I would guess that there is an order for which victories would occur in this situation. For example, if culture is added to your cities at the start of every turn before anything else happens, you'll probably find cultural victory. If UN elections are held first instead, then it'd probably be the victory type. I'm not sure of the order that events are carried out at the end/beginning of each turn so I can't give you an answer.
However, using the world builder I'm sure you could construct a test and see what happens.

I think I can answer this one. Iirc, the last patch made it so that you need to hold a tile for some turns (10?) before it counts for your land %. So if you haven't had the land long enough by 2049, it won't count for domination :)

As for the order about which victories are found...I have no idea...might be fun to try out ;)

That's true, but if he were to construct it so perfectly so as to have the required amount of land exactly ten turns before 2050, we'd end up in the same situation. The question remains...

i'm not sure it would be possible to have domination and conquest at the same time so late. But I'm going to give a guess of time, since the first thing on the sequence of events is the year changing over.

you know what? that is a realy pointless question... ;) But not that I wouldn'T like to hear the answer if you have one, thing is that it probably is a loop which it gets back to at the beginning of each turn (meaning you need to hold your victory condition while the AI/other players complete their moves) and terminates when it meets anone of the victory conditions. Although it is probably pointless because the bonus is mostly calculated by time difference to 2050 which should be the same for that year. I asume that they use the order in which the victory conditions are listed on the custon game configuration.... although I'll gladly listen if you want to actualy experiment.

cheers

This is a good question. The easiest way to find out is go into world builder and set this all up. Then load it up and hit enter. I am kind of curious about this myself now. You could even figure whichever one takes place as the one to win is the "real" victory condition as the game tallies it first above all others. :p

Yes, but if time victory was disabled?

Don't really have time, bacause that would be 5 experiments. Find out 1st victory disable it, 2nd disable it, etc.

It' been awhile now. Anyone that know the answer?

I believe the order is the same as the order in CIV4VictoryInfo.xml, so that would be:
  1. Score
  2. Time
  3. Conquest
  4. Domination
  5. Cultural
  6. Space Race
  7. Diplomatic

Score isn't enabled by default for single player games. So, that means you would get a Time victory.
