question on conquest?

i have civ 3, but i want to play conquest. i downloaded the 'hing off of this site - patch or whatever. i thought that was all i needed to play, or do i need to buy conquest. sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but it wasn't entirely a techincal question. that said, it says, wehn i try to open conquest that i am missing IFC23.dll.

anyone shine any light on all this?

ah, bugger you do need to buy it aswell. hmm. that's a ****ter. anyway, when does the new one come out so i can decide whether to buy conquest.

Civ 4 comes out in December 2005, so I suggest waiting for it.

i've got a few more questions so i might aswell put them in here.

1) can anyone tell me if there is an update/patch for vanilla (is that the right name?) which adds new civilization (british instead of english) with specific units - eg red coats etc.

2) can somebody please direct me to a thread with a tutorial on designing new units and what programme is best for doing this?

3) i downloaded the warhammer mod for vanilla and i dont know how to get it to work, what am i supposed to do?

as you can see i am pretty useless at pc stuff, so any help would be much appreciated.

1) in the GOTM pages you can find such "patches" that will allow new civilisations, such as the spanish (commercial-religious there, rather than seafaring-religious). I'm thinking like after GOTM 29 IIRC. It might be stated in the "your first visit to GOTM" page.

There's no patches that do this, but you might find a mod or two that will. Or you can just make the changes yourself. There's lots of units available over in the Creation & Customization forum and it would be a simple matter to change the name of the Englich civ, though I don't really see what the difference is.
