What should I do at the start of the game? What technologies and units should I go first?

Maps difficulty is noble, gametime is normal, map's size is standard and the map is 'continents'

answer is Depends

'usual' way is worker first, and workertechs

Ok how can I upload the save(s)? I have played two games already but I am not sure have I played them exactly well. They were on settler and chieftain. Now I am starting noble...

Simply post a thread here, saying something like "pj543 attempts noble" (stealing RadioNoer's title, it dosen't really matter), and put basic information such as a screenshot of the starting position, the settings page, and attach the 4000 BC save. Play fifty or so turns every couple of days or so and let others help you with your play. An example is my original noble game, here.

At noble level, you can't go wrong with a pretty typical initial build order like:
*Worker
*Warrior
*Scout (if you have the hunting tech) or another warrior

Just keep building units for scouting/defense until your city grows to work all of its high-food special resource tiles (usually pop 3 or so). Then start on a settler and, after that's finished, found your 2nd city somewhere (aim for spots with lots of food, production, and special resources). After that, many more options will have opened up.

As for techs, research whatever techs you need to improve the special food resource tiles around your capital (will depend on what resources you have around your base--you'll pretty much either need animal husbandry if you have animal tiles around, or agriculture if you have corn, rice, or wheat. If you have a coastal start with lots of fish, disregard everything I've said so far and build units until you research fishing to build workboats to improve those tiles). Then maybe research archery for defense (just to be safe), mining & bronze-working for slavery and chopping forests, and after that it will get much more open-ended.

Note that this is in no way an optimal start. Formulating an absolutely optimal start for you would depend on knowing your starting civ and surrounding terrain. But what I've outlined here is a fairly fail-safe start that will work decently on noble level in almost any situation.

1) Stare at Ecuwin's avatar for 5 minutes
2) Then go here:
War Academy
3) Focus on Intro Courses and Sisutil's guide first
4) Proceed to GGrachus's post above
5) Read Zeiter's post, but ignore his advice on building scouts and teching archery

Too much wordzzzz..... zzzzz...... *sleeping*

4) Proceed to GGrachus's post above

Well... it looks too difficult :(

Well here is something easy and simple! Thx :)

Btw could someone give a link for a thread where civ v and civ iv are compared? Just because I saw civ v trailer and it looked much cooler than siv iv and maybe I would buy it... :) or what do you guys think about civ v :D ?

 Well, since you don't seem to want to do a little homework to beef up your game on CIV IV, then maybe CIV V is your type of game. My 2 year old nephew could beat that game without reading anything.

Anyway, this is probably not the best place for an objective comparison of IV and V. I'd check the V forum, you can find lots of threads on the topic.

I'm sorry, I just kidding :D ofc civ v looks better but I'm gonna try civ iv out before civ v... :goodjob:

be warned. once you become serious with iv, you might never want to move to v. :nono:

If you truly love cIV then chances are you will be very disapointed by ciV. I ended up with cIV again after trying ciV. It is simple not as deep as cIV.

However, there is a lot of reading to do if you wanna get good at cIV. If you are more interested in just smacking the AI and not worry too much about hidden mechanics etc. then ciV might be your game.

Lymonds 5 advice are really solid (yes, also #1).

#1 is the best after #4:D

My guess is it is Stacy Keibler. She's a so-so American TV Actress mainly, but pretty damn hot. I could be wrong but it certainly looks like her.

In general, I'd agree that scouts and archery are a waste. But if we're talking about a beginner on noble, we're not looking necessarily for the most streamlined opening. We're looking for something to get him off to a solid start, no? With enough play, it will become apparent when archery can be skipped, what to prioritize when scouting (so that you only need your starting warrior and maybe one extra warrior if your starting one gets killed). But on noble, I'd just err on the side of caution. On noble, it doesn't take any brilliant gambits to start pulling ahead soon enough. No need to start with 2 workers, quick-chop the oracle, slingshot XYZ, or whatever, and more often than not get cheapo'd by a gang of barbs popped from a hut or something (although the OP is free to do that if he/she gets any neat ideas from here or the War Academy articles and sees that it's applicable in his/her game). You get the idea. In general, I'd say that, on noble, there's nothing wrong with building a few starting warriors and a scout.

It does look like her. I bet you also know who Lemon's current avatar is.
