Hello, I'm both new to the forums and to C2C, and I have a question.

When I load up the mod and try to play why does the message area always fill up saying that the is an error with the BUG options writing the ini files?

I just want to know because after reading about the mod it looks really fun and I wanna be able to play with the full screen not trying to play through the words

Hi and welcome. Those errors occur because you have not set the program to be able to write to the place where it stores your options. I think if you run Civ as administrator it will get over the problem but there is abetter solution mentioned somewhere. Did you check the Frequently Asked Questions thread? I think that a proper answer to that should be on the FAQ but it isn't at the moment.

It is already listed elsewhere on these forums, if you are using Vista, 7, or 8, DON'T install Civ 4 to your Program Files. I installed it to C:/Games, but other options may work.

Or do and always run-as-admin...

I don't like that because I've found when I run it as admin in 7 or 8 the game will sometimes (every week or so) overwrite my INI file, which is a pain. I don't have that issue running normally.

It does the same thing to me and I installed it in C:\Games not Program Files but still have to run it as admin or it wont run properly.

This has always been my procedure (though I use G: rather than C: ), but it isn't vital. I recently reinstalled BTS (just in case the black tile problem was linked to it---it wasn't, but I'm not going to re-install back to G: again) and put it in Program Files(x86) with no problems. Then again, I run all programs as an admin, so that may affect it.

Thanks for answering and I tried running it as an admin and that got rid of the problem, I feel stupid now that I kno it was such a simple fix
