I have a few questions about the 2004 hit song Dragostea Din Tei - not really important questions, I'll live if I don't get answers, but just wondering...

1. Which language is it sung in? It sounds like Italian or Romanian, though I'm leaning more toward Romanian?

2. Whose song is it originally? There are two groups that have it out - O-Zone and Haiducii, both European. Each group has a music video. A main difference between the two groups' singing is that Haiducii it's male and female vocalists; O-Zone, both are men.

That's all basically. Sorry, MODs, if this is a spam thread, it's not intended to be.

It's Romanian

I don't know which one is the original. One group is Romanian, the other Moldavian.
The Moldavian language is pretty much the same as Romanian, though the Sovjets officially declared it a new language.

You might be able to imagine how bad it is when you don't hang out with a girl but with Stapel instead and he is playing it. ;)

Same here. I was away for a weekend this summer for a bachelor party and everyone seemed to love that song and they played it all the time we were in the cars. It was pure torture.

well i didn't really ask if it should be legal or not or anything but your opinions...
thanks for feedback, though...

hey, maybe we should start a support group?

you know, share our pain... :D

Hahaha. If there were a "post of the month" award this would win it.

The song is an original Romanian folk song, so everyone can cover it.

It is quite classical, it is all about a love affair taking place underneath a lime-tree.

The original is from Haducii(ROMANIA)the others are moldavians.
BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE I CANNOT HEAR IT ANYMORE!!!!!

And finally, to correct Rolo Master, the original was performed by O-Zone. Haiducii is a romanian female moderator who covered their song a bit later.

I first saw haducci
so I supposed that haducci was first!

You should be banned for listening to that song

ok you know what? all i asked was 2 simple questions. did you try to answer them? no. instead you decided to be an intolerant a. there is nothing wrong w/ me liking the song; there is nothing wrong w/ u hating the song; am i saying there's anything wrong w/ your opinion about that song? no. what are YOU doing, on the other hand? pretty much condemning anyone who listens and likes it, in this case, me. so thank you, because now i know that it's impossible to even ask a simple question without people starting to hate on me FOR NO REASON

O-Zone are the originals, Haiducii well... stole it. Still, as I understand, if Haiducii had never done it and the song would not have caused a stir in Italy, O-Zone would still be concerting in Romania. To clarify, Haiducii consist of one Romanian girl and two Italian guys. And no, it's not a folk song

It should be illegal to mention that song!
I hear you. But if only for the pleasure of not listening them here on the radio, should the rest of the World suffer ;)

Argh.
Me and my sister went to Germany for three weeks in July. Since we were only in rural areas, and being city kids, we resorted to watching alot of TV. And at least in the places where we were, most of the commercials were for cellphone ringtones and stuff. We hated most of those annoying tunes, but Dragostea Din Tae was the worst. And that song gets stuck inside your head real, real hard after you hear it in simplified ringtone form many times. We found ourselves randomly humming and whistling it. ><
We were very glad to get away from that song when we headed back home (I recall us actually accidentally humming it and getting pissed off about it in the airport, and talking about how much we're glad to not have to hear it anymore), but lo and behold, by the time we got here THE PLAGUE HAD SPREAD!
I was surprised once when I saw a translation of the lyrics that they aren't as retarted as the tune though.
I still hate that song. But I hate alot of today's pop. =\
