Thanks anarres.
If the uploads feature is the better one to use over the attachment feature, then is it possible to find another way of finding out how many times a file has been downloaded?

Sorry Sir Eric, there is no way to count downloads from a static URL, at least not without significant monitoring software on the server itself.

I'm in my first go-through of the game, and I've run into a snag. I built a Military Academy, but can't now find it! Since I'm running dozens of cities, it's a pain to go scrolling through each one.

The end purpose is to build armies, but I can't find the darn thing. Any suggestions? (Other than write down the city, next time!)

Thanks!

There should be services that let you list a URL on their site, and they just serve a redirect to the actual image, and count how many hits there were, on a web page you can access. This is pretty cheap to run, so it might be available for free. But I don't know of a specific free service that does this.

1. Try to see which city has the option to build armies. I assume this city is one of your core cities that can crank out tons of shields every turn, so you may want to start the search from your most productive cities.

2. Check your culture advisor (F5). The advisor tells you how you generate your culture points. Only check the cities that contribute culture points with wonders (you shouldn't have too many of such cities), and your city with the MA has to be one of them. Click on the city name on the left, and you should be able to see what culture-generating improvements/wonders this city has.

Hope that helps, and IMHO, option 2 sounds easier to me. :)

You need to enable the custom rules option. Click on 'Scenario', and then 'Custom Rules.' You'll then be able to place your cities and units.

Nope, Custom Rules are on.

I find it strange that even when I open scenarios where units and cities have been placed, the options are still off.

Hello, I have PTW version 1.21f, and I have a problem. When I try resuming a multiplayer game, I make sure that I have "load game" as the option in the staging window, and that the other player(s) is/are ready when I launch. But then after clicking launch, I select which game to load, and everything seems perfectly fine. Except for one thing: I can't get the other player(s) to be selected as one of the civs. I'm the player on the top bar, there's one "open" bar for each human player besides me, and then there's the bars for the AI. In the "open" bar(s) I can make it closed, computer, or keep it open, but can't make it so that it's another human, and neither can the opponent(s), because they don't see this screen that I'm talking about. If I make it computer, it has the civ that the human player(s) were playing when I saved the game, and it even has their usernames instead of haivng "computer" anymore, but the AI plays as them. Therefore, AFAIK, it's impossible to save and resume a multiplayer game. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

Does anyone else have this problem and/or know what to do? Should I post it in the bug reports forum? Does anyone not have this problem? Please HELP!!!

Did you set the active player? I just realized that you need to have the active player set. Sorry, don't remember how to do this. I think it's spacebar? Dunno. . . but the active player does need to be set.

@WillJ - Did you try the Multiplayer forum? Maybe someone else there has come across this before. . . .

I believe you just keep it 'open' and once a player joins, that player will fill that spot.

Hmm... I might try that.

No, this is after I've launced the game, and I have all the players I want.

Yeah, I've also asked there (in the Q/A thread).

So... how does Egypt control that isolated piece of sea?

edit: um.... so it appears my picture didn't upload.......

without seeing the picture

(closes eyes in mystical voice "I can see a picture forming..." :))

You can't control ocean, but your radius will expand over ocean tiles to include any sea or coast in the nominal radius.
So if there's a single sea tile within your cultural radius it will be marked as yours, but the ocean around it is never owned by anyone.

Culture won't cover Ocean squares (unless within a city's 21-tile radius). Eqypt's culture must have expanded, but only one sea square could accept it.

EDIT: Ack, you posted at the same time.

Yeah, there's a SOTD somwhere about a lonely sea tile that has been 'claimed' by a Civ, and has Ocean tiles all around it. . . I've had that happen to me in a couple of games.
[edit] Ah, yes. In fact, it was the second SOTD we had here. http://www.civfanatics.com/sotd/sotd02.jpg.[/edit]

@WillJ - Sorry, dude, but the spacebar part was directed at Hooray. I haven't a clue how to do MP other than PBEM.

Oops, was the quote up there all along? Holy crap, how could I have missed that? :wallbash:

I hope I figure out how to make it work soon...

Well, when you figure it out, make sure to post it, so the rest of us can learn from your skull sweat. :D

This was different... there were two squares, side by side, not touching land -- they were about 3 squares from the egyptian coast, and were within Egypt -- but all of the squares around them were not -- not even on a diagonal. How do I post the picture? I attempted to do it w/ the "Add Attachment" option at the bottom of the post reply page, but obviously that didn't work...
