Oh.
Mayhap I erred. Good thing I didn't say yes to the vite, eh?!?

Thanks.

Well, it shouldn't ask you if you want a vote, since that condition is disabled. Just like when the Space Race is disabled, you can't build that.

I'm kinda curious tho. . . go ahead and try it. . . you can always reload from the save. . .

How many people are in 1 point of population? How many pop points would I have to put in to get a city population of 12 mil?

How many people are in 1 point of population?

CadetEmperor, All towns, when built, automatically start with a population of 10,000. Population is represented by the amount of food that city currently has in storage. So if your city has a surplus of only 1 food, the turn after it is built, it will have a population of 11,000

In example...

4000 BC, Rome is founded. It has a population of 10,000, and has a food surplus of 1.

3950 BC, 1 food goes into the food storage of Rome, thus it has a population of 11,000.

...every turn the population would continue to go up by 1,000 unless the surplus food was to increase/decrease. If there was 2 surplus food, then the pop would increase by 2,000 each turn.

How many pop points would I have to put in to get a city population of 12 mil?

This would take quite a long time to figure out, hence i'll leave you to do it :p

Hope that clears things up for you :)

It's not that hard to work out how much pop 12 million would require.

The first 6 expansions require 20,000 pop:

20,000 * 6 = size 7

The next 6 require 40,000:

+ 40,000 * 6 = size 13

so, 360,000 population to get to size 13

then, 60,000 for each pop point after that.

so, 12mil - 360,000 / 60,000 = 194

That means you need to get your metro to size 207 before it hits a population of 12 million. :D

Can someone provide a link to a (or the) RCP thread / article? I think that is easier than making a dotmap myself!

Thanx!

Is it possible to Customize the name of your civ, leader, and titles like it was in Civ2?

Yep, it's possible on the screen where you pick your civ.
Just left-click on the field below the leader head. (edit: or maybe directly the head)
You can choose your name etc.
However, there's only a general title (like "King") to be set.

IIRC, to change the titles for each government, you need to play around with the editor.

Thanks :D

I have another stupid question, How do I stack? I've heard people talk about it, but do not know how to do it.

Sorry for all the questions, I have been playing Civ since the first one caem out, then on to the second one. I just got a computer that can handle Civ III, So I am finding quite a few things differant, I am definantly gonna have to adjust my playing sytle.

What is DyP?

@Zapp:
You mean how to stack move?
(This only refers to vanilla civ3, PTW has other options) When you press "j" while a unit of the stack is active, you get a (stack-)go-to cursor. Any active unit of the same type w/ movement points left would go to the desired destination as a stack. To avoid ugly things, note that it's better to stack move units that actually have the same amount of movement points left, and don't try to follow a path that's at least partly under the "fog of war" (send an exploring unit first, in case of a ROP for example). "j" will also work to re-base air units.

Stacking is as simple as moving a unit on top of another one. The *trick* is getting them to move together after that. ;)

In Civ3, version 1.29f (and maybe earlier - I don't recall) you can move a stack of units together by selecting one, and pressing the "J" key. A "pathing" arrow is displayed, and you can direct the "stack" like you would a single unit.

In PTW, you can use the "J" command amd the "CTRL-J" command to move stacks. One moves all units in the stack, the other moves only units of the type selected. (I never remember which is which, because ... ) There are also "Stack Movement" Buttons on the PTW screen, right above the Info Box in the lower left corner. One moves the entire stack, the other just units of the type selected.

Edit: Beat me to it, Grille.
:D

I'm playing a game with more than 8 AI players. They do not all show up on the foreign advisor screen. Is there a way to show those that are not showing up?

On the foreign advisor's screen, shift-right-click on a leader head (or empty slot) and get a menue to choose another.

Contact may be also established by hitting "shift-d" (on main map).

Grille:
How in the world did you discover [shift-right-click on a leader head]. I've looked in all the books and a lot of the forums; I never ran across a reference to it. Are there any other undocumented controls you know about?

What is the effect of runnign out of money? I have had a treasury of 0, and lossing 22 Gold Pieces per turn, and I could not figure out what the effects where, everything seemed to be going normally.
