I was playing a Huge size world map and the AI + me got to the middle ages in 690 BC...:p

that is why I was curious...it seemed odd...:crazyeye:

Two things can contribute to getting to the Middle Ages fast:

1) AP
2) huge maps with huts

You can zip through the AA in a huge map at lower levels with expansion civs popping techs and trading. It will slow down after getting the the middle age as no more techs from huts, no Philo tech and all the scientific civs get the first tier in the new age.

Oh...yeah...good huts...damn Portuguese, no wonder they reached the MA so quickly...:cringe:

And I never use AP.

How much is a Palace really worth? My Civilopedia says 100 shields, but it seems to be costing different amounts in my cities. I'm currently playing as the Babylonians on Warlord (Civ 3 Conquests, no patches), and it seems to be costing 350 shields (my cities that produce 1 shield take 350 turns to produce a palace, and my larger citiy that produces 10 shields takes 35 turns to produce it). I figured it might be a random occurence, so I closed Civ 3 and loaded it again. The problem was still there. I opened a saved file from a different game (Persians on Warlord), and it still cost 350 shields (though the Civilopedia still reads only 100 shields). Finally, I restarted my computer, opened Civ 3 again, and it now costs... 400 shields!!!

Is this a common bug with a patch, or is there something I'm missing that the Civilopedia doesn't mention that affects palace costs?

Thanks.

The pedia is in error. Palace cost is a function of the number of towns you have. As the game plays out and you have more cities, it will cost more, up to 1000 shields. I think that is the cap in C3C.

Do get the last patch, it is going to fix some bugs and exploits. It will also allow you to load others games and post them so other can load them.

I have turned off Capital Govenor default for new cities but still when my city gets to size 3 it makes 1 of the people automatic an entertainer.

I believe that leaving Capital Governor as default for new cities just means all new cities will have the same settings. Then, if you don't allow the governor to govern anything in your capital, he won't do it anywhere else.

I'm pretty sure most experienced players check only "Emphasize Production", as that's what helps make Settler Factories work properly, and you shouldn't get automatic clowns with that setting.

well it still makes govenor automatic changes citizen moods:

This are some pics of how I got my settings:

it still automatic makes an entertainer:

Also tried to turn of city govenor by default but still same happends.

somehow it doesn't show the images but you can click the links to see it.

Anyone know why it still use the Govenor for citizen moods?

I don't see the pix for the govenors setting for Production, make sure it is set to never. The one you show is for general.

yes I think you mean this one, I got it set to this:

my.php

This a scenario I made with the Scenario editor to remove certain units out of the game and add more civs to play.

any other ideas?

its really annoying to play like this.

I just don't understand I set manage citizen moods to no and he still makes them to entertainers.

Edit: here is the scenario I made:

Edit 2:

When I do nothing I build the town fortify the worker and let the game continue untill the town is pop lvl 3 it doesnt turn the person into an entertainer.

If I irrigate both cows and the pop lvl becomes 3 the third person turns into an entertainer.
I hope someone knows why this happends.

sorry for my bad english , I am dutch.

You have produce happiness set to often, that tells the gov to do something. Set it to never. I got invalid trying the second link.

My guess is that with a worker in the town, it treats it like an MP and that means one content citizen. In the one with a forted worker, move it out and see if that changes it.

BTW do not put workers in town, they have work to do and you are paying them, so use them.

In Regent and Monarch you get two content citizen, so the third one is unhappy. This will be done by the gov as a clown. I use never and deal with happiness myself.

If this was Emperor or higher, it would occur on the second pop. At Warlord you get 3 content and Chief it is 4. So you need to always know that and when a town grows, take action, if it goes above that level.

Note that if you have the lux slider in action or luxs hooked up or happy structures, such as temples, you change the dynamics. A town with a temple at Regent/Monarch will now need a 4th pop before unhappiness.

This ignores any other conditions such as war weariness.

What is the range of planes to change BASE?

Is it related with the bombardement range?

In Vanilla/PTW, range is unlimited. In C3C, it is 3x the operative range.

It provides a 25% attack/defense boost to your units within 2 tiles of it when fighting (either defending or attacking). You can only build them in your territory and neutral territory, though.

Hi... I am TOTTALY new to al of this. I cannot understand even the basics of how to play the game. I need dumbed down step by step instructions that would help me to basically understand turn based games?

There's a tutorial game you can play, from the main menu. I would start with that. I would also start with the manual, but the manual has outdated information. But it'll give you an idea of how to play the game. Also check out the FAQ stickied to this forum, it'll have questions and answers that will help out.
