Yes. Although the original discussion was about war happiness. WW points are counted exactly the same in all governments. The only difference is that war weariness only affects Republic and Democracy. In contrast, war happiness affects all governments.
Maybe you want to give it a try, Bartleby. Feudalism has the same war weariness as Republic. But it allows military police, and it's got huge unit support. Because of the unit support it doesn't squeeze your military as much as Republic. And with a big military, it's easier to prevent war weariness. So war weariness shouldn't be so much of a problem in Feudalism.
I don't think Feudalism is only good for 100K cultural wins. For a casual gamer Feudalism can be an excellent choice for doing some conquering. I prefer it to Monarchy, with Monarchy you're still forking out a lot on military. From what I hear, Monarchy is better for always war games, but I'm not playing that variety, so there I don't know.
I've used it once: in SGOTM 12! And yes, it suffers low war weariness...which is another reason it is not a good government (for most ordinary cases, that is.)
Dominatrix: Yeah...when I joined CFC, I looked upon the people with 1,000+ posts like: WOW, HOW DID THEY GET THAT MANY!!! But, now that I only need one more...it's like...oh, I'm at 1000. That wasn't that huge of a deal!
Edit: X-post with Optional...now my post just looks like spam to get to 1000 posts!
I don't know what it is, with all the bad press that Feudalism gets. Ok, if I have a good start, that means I'll usually get the Republic slingshot, and then it's Republic.
If I'm having a struggle of a start, hardly any food or lux and those things, and that keeps me small, then I'll go for Feudalism, build up some military, and then expand by military means. Feudalism seems to me the best way to get over a mediocre start.
I WOULDN'T DO SUCH A THING! NO...NOT ME!! I'M JUST NOT THAT KIND OF PERSON, YOU SEE? IF I REALLY WANTED TO...I COULD HAVE GOTTEN MY 1000 POSTS A YEAR AGO!!!
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! 1000th Post!!!!!!!
Edit: Optional, what you just mentioned, I have thought about for quite some time (before you posted it, obviously) and I was wondering in my head if it actually would work for starts like you propose. However, you would still have to modify your game quite a bit to continue a Feudalism for at least until you get Democracy. But, in mediocre games, I don't think Democracy is good either...so you would then have to wait until Communism or Fascism!! That's quite some time. I have mixed thoughts about it, though...so I think I'll try out Feudalism more since you said it works like that.
Two questions regarding multiplayer in Conquests... and a third semi-related question...
From reading the forums, it seems like PTW had a Turnless mode which made a multiplayer game move very quickly -- but I don't see this option in Conquests. Am I completely missing it or did Firaxis get rid of it for some reason?
Since there's no Turnless mode, we've been using the Simultaneous mode. If I'm understanding that mode correctly, do the turns go as quickly as the slowest player? i.e., each turn only ends when the slowest human player hits Enter (with computer players not having any effect on time)?
On a side note, I'd be interested in knowing Civ fans' opinions on the best multiplayer games that 1) involve a lot of tangible strategy (not luck or magic), 2) move quickly and 3) please don't say "chess"
I think that for simultaneous, there can be a turn timer which regulates how long a turn can take, and this can be turned off, in which case I think that the slowest player plays, and then the turn gets reset.
Some other good MP games are: Empire Earth (original not 2 or 3), Rise of Nations (there's a forum for this here), Warcraft 3, Age of Empires (2 and 3), and that's about it. There are a lot more, but these are my personal favorites.

I've never tried multiplayer, but in SP games the "Preferences" has an option for "Always Wait at End of Turn", which is something I always use. If MP has that, unchecking that box seems like it should be a Turnless mode. You might give it a try.
Thanks DOMINATRIX and gmaharriet! And thanks for all the welcome smilies
MP doesn't seem to have its own "Always Wait at End of Turn" option but I did make sure it was unchecked in the main options screen.
And I'll try setting the Turn Timer to "None" (we had been using Fastest). That sounds like it might actually do the trick!
DOMINATRIX: Is the MP mode in the games you mentioned fairly quick? The reason I posted was because my friend and I had set up a LAN game with us 2 human players and 2 computer players and it seemed like we had a long wait time for our next turn. So the No Timer option might help...
I guess we're looking for a good MP game that two players can really get into rather than looking around for something good on TV while we wait for our next turn!
Another quick question. Recently won a couple of time victories on Monarch,
C3C standard map 5 civs. Trouble is, in each case another Civ reached cultural scores of over 100,000 before 2050. Both games had all victory conditions enabled. So why didn't I lose?
If you go to the Civ3 Editor (Start/All Programs/Civ3/Civ3ConquestsEdit) and you look at the player preferences panel, you'll see how many MP time points anything gives. For example, cities give 24, units I think give 1 or 3, and something else gives 1 or 3. That, and of course the speed determines how much time you have per turn in MP.
@Padma
I'm not sure that you have to have twice the culture of an opponent, because sometimes the file gets so big that it lags. This happens a lot to me, especially in the later ages. During the build unit in city time, random cities that the camera doesn't even default to switch from projects they weren't assigned to random projects, and I also remember having 113,492 CPs (nearly 3 times as much as the closest other Civ) and not winning by culture.
Hey, I have a problem with RON Gold, and when I start up the game, and it goes past the main cinematics to the main menu, the game comes up with a box that says, "Can't create file state.dat. Please check disk space.". Can anybody help, please? Thanks!
