I may be mistaken, but I recall trading workers on an archipelago map, with no cities sharing a landmass with a foreign power. I may be totally wrong though. Can someone back this up?

Yes, I have had this happen as well. It's the same transport service that gets your units a free ride home if you gift a city on another land mass.

BTW, don't forget to sell all barracks and granaries right before you capture Sun Tzu, or the pyramids (respectively). That is of course, only if you plan on keeping them.
...subject to deciding how likely it is to be able to hang onto the town. Losing it due to a flip can be pretty painful if you've sold off all your handbuilt ones for a few gps. I normally wait until I know that I've got the flip chance down to zero through starvation and garrison strength.

Starvation, garrison strength, and my favorite (of course), total eradication of the previous owner.:p

I guess I wouldn't sell right away either... If I was playing with CultConversions =P

I don't know if its a 'quick' question but:
I got 'Rhye's Terrain by Rhye -- terrain mod based on Snoopy' (for conquest, ver133).

Can I make so, that that terrain, it adds, would be "standard", so I would not have to load the mod each time, when I start a new game?

Back up your Art/Terrain folder from your Civ III folder. Replace the old files with the new Rhye's graphics. This is one of the easiest and safest changes to make to your game.

If you have a special Border graphics file or any other special graphics, you will have to re-install those as well as Rhye's will overwrite them.

In some games, I can get 2 techs for alphabet and in others they are annoyed for even suggesting such a thing.

Is there a way to tell which response to expect?

Yeah, I know, Cathy is a major cheapskate

You calculate how much the tech cost in beakers and compare its value to what you are asking in return.

It also depends on how many others know the tech and who knows those others... I just usually ignore all that and see how much they'll offer/give for different things when we get to trading. Just keep in mind that unique techs = AI

it depends on the value of the tech.
And the value of the tech depends on many factors, that may be different for different civ.
Its base cost is set in the editor, the map size and difficulty level are also the same throughout the game.
But how many beakers a civ has collected for that tech already, and how many other a civ has contact with that already know a tech can change from one turn to an other.

iam thinking about buying either civ 3 gold or the orginal civ 3 but i just wanted to know which one do you guys think is a better game

Yeah, what Aabraxan says is correct. Don't get fooled! Complete is much better package than Gold (it includes everything Gold has plus a lot more).

Capturing the princess...

I've tried googleing for answers but couldn't find it. How do I capture the princess in Conquests? I've moved units to it's square but there is no capture button or anything.

I thought up some more questions:
My high score list isn't working. I had saved the list from my old Vanilla, before reinstalling the whole game with Conquests. Then I took out the new high score file and pasted in the old one. But it didn't work, so I changed back. But now new records don't seem to be added to the list. Anyone know why? Also, is there a way to merge two high score files some way?

Also, how do you get to choose your own custom avatar on this forum?

Once you build barracks, your units are built as vets.

Is there a way to "upgrade" your regular units to vets aside from battle promotions?

You need to have 300 posts to use a custom avatar.

I too would like to know how to save an old High Score list. i would hate to lose my current one.

You only need 30 posts for a custom avatar, but you also need to have been a member for 30 days.

The High Score list is a plain text file in the civ directory, just make a copy on your USB key.
