When you take control of an AI city with an obsolete culture giving Wonder, does it still give you culture?
No. On the other hand, if the AI captures your city and you recapture it, you would get the culture (but the 1000 year doubling count would restart).

And finally, (an unheard of situation but I'm curious if it could happen and if it could, "what" would happen?) ...
... If a tech is discovered that makes a Wonder obsolete, could it still be built if nobody has built it yet?
I don't think anyone could start it, but I think it could complete if production was started before the tech was discovered (this could be possible with the Great Library).

All wonders give culture. If you build a wonder, you will get culture as long as you control the wonder.

If an AI builds a wonder, you will never get culture from it.

"Obsolete" only applies to those civs that know the tech. For example, if you discover Education before the Great Library is built, you would not be able to build it, but any civ that doesn't know Education still has the GL as an option. Also, as Tim said, if a wonder is already under construction, it can be completed even if the builder has the technology that makes it obsolete.

If all civs have the technology that makes a specific wonder obsolete before any civ begins building that wonder, then the wonder will never be built. Example: All civs learn Chivalry before they have Ivory available. (Statue of Zeus in C3C requires Ivory and is obsolete with Chivalry)

Question: Is there one screen that will show which Civ needs the resource I have to trade?

I am playing C3 v. 129f

The Trade Advisor sometimes states, "[So and so civilzation] would love to have" my resource. But this is too adhoc. I find myself having to initiate diplomatic relations with each Civ, cycling through to see who needs what. It's a bit cumbersome. Is there a way to see who needs what and when they will need it (i.e. they are getting silks from France but that deal will expire in 6 turns)?

Thanks again.

No, there isn't.

Unless you use a utility like CivAssist II or MapStat, both of which are GREAT civilization utilities, both of which are spoiler free, and both of which work with any version of Civ3, you can't find that info out in the game.

Does anybody in the GOTM staff tell me how I can get the seed and settings for GOTM43, i really liked that map, but when I try it , it says:

You didnt think you could get away with such spoiler info, did you?

Any answers? :(

I have a q for anyopne out there that would know.... Does any know if there is a way to keep my research on a tech from resetting when my GL gives me the last required tech of an age and advances me to the next age? I just spent some 20+ turns researching Republic and 3 turns b4 I had it I got currency and went to the new age. I'm playing my 3rd demigod difficulty game and I really don't want to spend the next 40+ turns researching what I should already have and I don't really want to go back an reload my game from a previous turn. I guess I should have just went directly into Monarchy instead of trying to play a diplomatic game at this difficulty.

Any answers to this Q would be greatly appreciated.

If indeed research on Republic was lost, then it is a bug. Advancing to the next era via the GL, or through trading, should not affect your current research into an optional tech.

@ Ansar -- your PM box is full, so here's your answer C&P'd:

I know its a really old GOTM, but I wanted the seed because the map looks so unique(who the heck has ever seen a donut shapd continent ;) ), just go to the thread Quick Answers/Newb Questions and you will see my question... :)

Wasn't GOTM46 just last month?

The GOTM maps are usually (though not always) heavily modified by the map developer, so a seed number wouldn't help you much. What you would need to do is get the .bi* file from the person who made the map. In this case, that would be ainwood, so he's the guy you have to PM.

(I'm assuming you want the seed so that you can play the game at a different difficulty. If you actually only want the game itself as it was originally played in the competition, you can always download the start file from http://gotm.civfanatics.net.)

Have fun. :)

I forgot what GOTM it was, i think its GOTM43 with Japan. Where Persia is in the middle, and yes, i want the map to play at a different difficulty level :) .

Im not ready for Deity anytime soon...

Oh and P.S, thanks for the reminder about the PM Box. :p

Ah, ok. Mad-bax developed GOTM43, but he's only available every once in a while. I'm not sure if any of the rest of us have the .bi* for that map, but again ainwood is your best bet.

I noticed that army units still have a rank like normal units but I've never seen any of my army units get promoted
Q: Can army units get promoted? (regular->veteran->elite)

Thanks in advance!

Oh poop! No wonder I've been getting zero culture points when I captured AI Wonders :crazyeye:
Thanks to all who answered my Wonders questions

Yes, the army units can get promoted (1 at a time though; ie; a Vet - Vet - Reg army might become Vet - Elite - Red, then Elite - Elite - Reg, etc.).

edit: Darn, Turner beat me. I guess I have more of a life than him. :P

^You might want to ask Bamspeedy... he probably knows, considering he played that Beyond Sid game with lots of armies...
