If you capture a science wonder in a totally corrupt city - will this city have any influence at all on your science 'rate'?

It will help your literacy rating (if you care for that, though I wouldn't know why)

well, it might add more than that.

Corruption is capped at 90%, before courts/police.

A size 12 city, in republic, with all citizens working roaded tiles, will make at least 28 or 30 commerce, so that's 3 commerce after corruption is taken out, so you would end up with 6 science. It still sucks, of course, though if you get enough cops and a courthouse and police station, you might make it better. And if there is a reasonable amount of tourist $, too.

I've got a twofer in this one.

What do you need to have or know for the science to alert you when an AI has completed or added a part to their spaceship?

Does "fast" count all units that have movement more than 1? IOW, I have never had a cavalry retreat from a knight even though the cavalry is faster, is it possible or is it any thing that attacks a unit moves 2 can't retreat no matter what it's speed is.

I don't know if there's a popup for the space ship. Haven't done one of those in a while. I would presume you'd need at least a diplomat in that civ. Possibly a spy as well.

As for your second question, a fast unit is any unit with more than two movement points. However, a 3 movement point unit will not try and retreat from a two movement point unit. A fast unit cannot retreat from another fast unit, regardless of the movement points left.

Thanks, I thought that was why my cavalry never retreat from knights.

In the past I've had the science advisor pop up and say "blank has added party lounge to their ship" I know you need a spy planted to get the info on the spaceship screen which shows parts done and in progress, but even without the spy I had the science advisor report finished parts only. Then last game I played, I was way behind in tech and my opponent actually finished 7 parts but the science advisor didn't report to me at all. This is the first time I suspected there was a threshold to have this knowledge.

I think you need a spy to know what parts have been built.

A cav cannot retreat from a knight or even a horse. Fast mover is any unit with greater than 1 move and of course all armies in C3C.

HI yawl

I am Very NEW to Civ a friend gave me a copy (original copy i might add...)and im hooked, however ive been looking through the map downloads that are around as i have tried to make a few myself (originally i probably did what is a very c**p thing to do and set up a REALLY bias player start position i.e LOADS of resources but never got started there!!!) Any way my question is are there any real world maps with NO resources available to download as i would like to build up one myself however to be honest i am not that good at cartography!

This time around i would like to take a blank map and try to set it to the real world (as close as you can with internet resources that is) possibly start in victorian (industrial that is i suppose) and work forward.

I would have to try to play the English of course...

...But when your only modern day value is banking and socks im mot sure what value that would have.

Many thanks

James

PS oh yeah How do you build emabassys in other countries?

You need 3 things.

The tech Writing.

Contact with the civ you want to establish an embassy with.

Enough gold to make the embassy.

In the main screen, you see the city name inside a translucent box hovering above every city.

The name-box above your capital city (usually the first city you founded) also has a star shaped symbol to the right.

Double click on this star, and a screen will show up where you can choose a civ to found an embassy.

(you'll need the tech writing first, before this will work)

Two more ways to get to this dialog box:

Shift-E
Click on the 'E' on the right side of info box found on the bottom right of the main screen.

Did the enemy civ accepts give you something if you treatens them?
(Again: Sorry my english)

Cuatemoc: if you have a strong military compared to them, they will probably give you something. Don't expect too much though. And their attitude towards you will change.

Why the combat system is so unfair?

It's not. In fact, it has been proven time and time again to be fair. Anyone can run the tests and predict the results.

There is a cheat to reveal the map and all the resources on it named MULTI. I have 2 PC with Civ3 , but only in one the cheat works. Why?

That cheat was taken out with Patch 1.17, I think it was. So you have one computer that's before the patch, and one after.

I think saw a similar question to this a while ago, but I looked back a way and couldn't find it, so: How is the rebase range worked out for air units? Is it related to their operational range?

No it is much larger, but I forget the formula and it works a bit different in vanilla than C3C.
