Doesn't bother me that much, but I recall a lot of fuzz about closing threads at 1000 posts when I was a n00b around here. I guess that changed after an upgrade or five.

how about the Pyramids or are you on a very small island?I received a Science Great Leader very early in the game. I don't have anything important enuff to hurry production...

That is not the best way to go... You can get by with it on early levels, but the best thing to do is to get contact with all other tribes ASAP. You do this by sending out suicide galleys. Take a good guess where land is closest around your lands, and send him out. Hopefully, he'll survive long enough to make contact with at least one other tribe. If not, keep at it. On higher levels, you're dead if you don't set up tech trading networks early.Being alone - until I receive visitors or Nav, I will just keep army small (have enuff settled, barbs are nil) and hustle on techs.
Second that!! IMO, The Pyramids are the best deal going in the Early game.....for pretty much any Victory Condition!how about the Pyramids or are you on a very small island?

If you're playing for a high-scoring Histographic Victory.........The Pyramids are mandatory, IMO.![]()
I agree with you 100%........Never build The Pyramids unless you have too........but if you get an early SGL.........it's a No-brainer...

1 - They will refuse to move if you use the goto order or try to use the mouse to move the unit. Try using the number pad on your keyboard to move the curraghs and galleys instead.I have tried "suicide galleys and curraghs" but they just won't go into the dark. How do you do that??
Also, on occasion I see reference to 'vanilla'. Vas ist dis?

2 - Vanilla is the basic civ 3 game, in other words a game that has not been expanded by a Play The World or Conquests installation.
Yes and yes. Want to know more detail about mobilization? Can you build workers in Mobilization? What about Settlers?
Then you have all 3 versions of Civ 3: Vanilla, PTW, Conquests........With all the latest (and final) patches pre-installed....I have Civ 3 Complete.
I think that could be a good idea too, especially if you're just trying to survive on Levels 6, 7 & 8.......But, on the lower levels, you should gain a comfortable lead in the Tech Race, so Great Library won't benefit you much.Actually, usually if I get a SGL I'd rather go for the Great Lib...
