Yes, the retreating unit will heal.

A question on healing: If I have a fast unit (or an Army of them), which I fortify on neutral ground to heal, and it is attacked on the IBT by a slow unit, and retreats, will it heal?

Yes, because it did not use any of its movement. This is why you can move units on rails and still heal, no movement is expended.

How much does army heal:

A) with 1 unit in it
B) with 2 units in it
C) with 3 units in it

on open Neutral ground?
and in town w.o. barracks?

(incase no movement has been used)
Do units with +hp (like elephants) get any extra healing points?

Army always heals fully in town with barracks.

Thanks.

"on open Neutral ground?

You gain 1 hp per turn per unit.

"(incase no movement has been used)"

If you move you gain nothing,

"Do units with +hp (like elephants) get any extra healing points?"

No, they just take longer to heal in the open.

"Army always heals fully in town with barracks."

Has long as they did not move.

Why did my iron resource suddenly disappear?

I was playing as Russia and hooked up iron and horse within the first few turns of them being visible. Trying to build swordsmen a bit later the iron had disappeared from where it had been before and I couldn't build them.

Is this just a glitch?

No, not a glitch. Strategic resources have a certain chance per turn they have a road on that tile of disappearing. You just happened to get hit early.

I once had coal disappear the second turn I had it. :(

It will reappear some places, but you probably do not have enough land for it to be in your empire. So someone just found a new source.

I have heard that a depleted resource will reappear elsewhere on the same continent. So an ironless enemy might suddenly get your iron. Just what you wanted, right?

Lets continue with armies:

*If army(with 3 units in it) is fortif. in town and I get happiness (or neutrality) from military police(MP) how much happiness would I gain? Is it 4 or 3 or 1?

*Is "army" unit treated as anything "special" or as an extra unit in game?

(army unit is empty army, where you can add units to eg you get an army unit and 3 attack units per army (unless specific wonder has been built that increases units amount army)

*If I got two unit army (3/6 hp) and I add 1 more unit with full health so army is 7/10 hp and neither army or unit added has been moved, will army gain full hp next turn?

*I've seen units IN army being promoted(from vet to elite for an example), how does that work?

*How much support does an 3 unit cavalry army need ? Does it "eat up" 3 units of support or 4?

I'll let others with more experience take the nuts and bolts questions & will tell you something you might not have realized: the army unit itself counts as an extra unit when transporting aboard ship. In other words, a 3-unit army counts as 4 for transport--which means at certain points of the game, you can be stuck trying to move an army around if you haven't planned for this. If you have only got galleys, for example, either just transport the leader counter before forming an army, or only put one unit in it & add the others when you get to where you want to go. (Of course, then you won't be able to get it back until better transport becomes available.)

As for promotions within an army from vet to elite (& I presume from regular to vet, assuming you get stuck for that) they work about as they do normally: fight a battle, get a promotion to one unit. There's a wrinkle in that you would have to win several battles to promote the "lower" units in the stack (I think) & you can only fight a limited amount in a turn. I've asked if anyone has ever gotten 3 promotions in an army & I believe no one answered yes. One is common, and 2 fairly frequent if you keep using the army turn after turn, but it looks like you have to start with elites to get more than 2 in an army. I would consider that wasteful, as armies never generate leaders on their own, so you would be giving up chances to leader fish, but if you had plenty of elites or armies & needed 20 hp, it would be viable. Elite* is a different story; they can't generate leaders while a *, so adding them to the army is perfectly fine.

@Overseer... don't joke. There isn't a message that comes up when something is depleted, right?

I think that there is a message that pops up when something depletes. I don't think it's one of the big pop-ups in the upper right corner, though. I think it's just one of the little messages, like the ones that announce the promotion of a unit from vet to elite, so they're pretty easy to miss.

You get a msg about the depletion, same as the one you get about WLTKD. If you are getting lots of msgs that turn you can miss it. You could be seeing the border expanding msgs at that time and the game is bouncing around the map quickly. It is easy to miss.

OK, thanks :).

running civ3 complete on macbookpro. was running fine last week and with no issues since original install. now won't even start. tried to reinstall, but same thing happens. click on icon in dock, the icon image "bounces" once and then nothing. click on icon in HD, the icon image "expands" and then nothing. any suggestions would be appreciated.
