Well, if you're in an alliance with them already, they tend to look the other way. Also if you're way more powerful than them. Hard to say, really, without a save.
Why in some games, when I rain down firey radiation death on my enemies the entire world declares war on me, but in other games I can use 20 nukes and still be friends with every one?
Semantics, mostly. Shields are the production unit in Civ3, Hammers in Civ4.Hi there. I used to play Civ 3 when I was younger and was pretty good (imo), which is usually the wrong one...anyway! I'm here to ask some questions which will probably sound stupid to you. I've either never understood them and want some clarification or I don't know full stop (i'll probably have more questions, so I'll end up coming back to this thread!!)
The ones I can think of now are:
1) This is almost the dumbest question; what do shields, hammers etc actually do? I know there for production etc but I hear people using them alternatively?
The Arabs are in PTW/Conquests. I forget which one was added in. There are two expansion packs, Play The World and Conquests. Conquests includes all of the PTW content, except for two minor extra unit packs that you can find on the net somewhere. You could probably pick it up from Amazon or eBay fairly cheaply, or just buy Civ3:Complete from Steam for about five bucks american.2) I only have the very basic Civ 3. Is there any mods/patches I can get to maybe add other Civs, etc (I swear the Arabians used to be on Civ 3, or was that my imagination)?
Check out A Study of Espionage Missions.3) Espionage - what exactly/how exactly can I use this to my advantage over other Civs?
Don't automate your workers. Micromanaging is a pain, but it's worth it. Above Regent the AI gets a bonus for units/improvements, so it's easier for them to build things. Below Regent, they get a penalty. At Regent, it's the same build cost for the human and AI.4) I'm just getting to grips with the whole Civ 3 thing again, so I'm starting on Warlord/Regent. I'm pretty confident with taking Civs down on the lower levels, but is there any tips that if I don't follow I will get pummelled on the higher levels?
5) Gold.
How can I maximize trade with other Civs to enhance my income? Is that possible? Is there certain rules I must follow when trading to maximize my end of the deal?
I can't think of any others at present, but if you know of tips that I must follow to make my Civ experience easier and more enjoyable, please, don't hesitate to tell me!
2) How do I use my advisors to their full potential? This is where I've been lacking, along with espionage. I'm not familiar with the screens etc, any help here?
3) Would anyone be kind enough to help me with my game play, in a week or two? Like I've said, I'm fairly new to "professional" (in that sense I mean I usually just play to pass time and do hardly anything with the game) Civving. I know basic REXing techniques etc (settler factories and the like), but having someone who knows the ropes analyse my game to help me improve would be a massive help..
Looks like you don't have Saltpeter hooked up.
