Wow! That's the quickest quick answer I've ever seen! You answered it yourself! :joke:

All kidding aside, you are correct. The little circle with the red line through it indicates that the tech is not needed for next era advancement.

Yes, and yes. F6 tells you what techs you have, which ones are optional - the ones with no entry signs - and therefore the rest are required.

what detenrmines the chance of getting a leader when an elete goes into battle.. and what can i do to help improve my chances of landing an army?

It's a probability of 1/16 in attack, 1/32 in defence. You can improve these odds to 1/12 and 1/24 by building the Heroic Epic. You can build the Heroic Epic once an army has been victorious in battle, even against a barb.

Here's an excellent article on maximising the creation leaders by SirPleb.

[EDIT] Sorry, cross-posted.

Also, being a Militaristic Civ increases your chances of "Unit Promotion", so you have an increased chance of promoting, say, veterans to elites.....and, if you have more elites, you have more chance of getting a G Leader....with which to build your Army.

However, Militaristic Civs DON'T have improved chances of getting GL's from Elites. :)

I'm so hooked on civ3 now I'd like to play with other people on multiplayer. But
- are the games in PTW as long as normal games? If so, how does that work? What if people quit? I'd guess it would be better to play with people you know and trust before setting off on a 30 hour game..
- what's the lag like? Is it bearable? Saw some people saying it was pretty bad
- how many players can play together?
- and, most importantly - do people still play it? Is it simple to find opponents?

Playing Civ 3 1.29f - I have a Marine Army that cannot attack from transport... I thought if all units in the army were the same the army would share the unit characteristics. Is this on(ly) for Conquests?

Nope, that didn't happen until Civ3:Conquests. Before that, if a unit had any special abilities like that, it was lost when entering the army.

In C3C, which civs start with alphabet and ceremonial burial? Thanks.

India and Spain. You can also find this out by clicking on each civ in the civ selection scene. (Which is how I did it. ;))

Is there a tool out there to see what AI would trade for techs and such from a sav file? It would be useful while I'm at work in discussing SG's. Thanks

You might want to check out the CrpSuite or CivAssist, links in my sig. They were talking about adding something like this, but I don't know if they ever got around to it.

All they currently have is just what you have that the AI doesn't & vice versa. What I was looking for is something that could give you say:

"India will trade HBR for Writing, 40 G, & 2gpt"

I don't know if you could decipher this from the sav files or not.

When you get attacked by another civ, sometimes your cities get a war happiness bonus.

What are the details about this bonus? How much? How long?

It's frustrating cause when it expires, my cities may go into disorder (if I've reduced lux or reassigned entertainers to take advantage of the bonus) without the warning turn, like you get when a city expands.

Thanks

try thr Civ3 multi tool from gramphos... it rocks

If you use a Scientific Great Leader to increase Science Output (as opposed to rushing Production) what happens? :)

You lose an SGL and get nothing in return. It doesn't work. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether it's worth doing!

I thought it was a Bug....but wanted to confirm that. Thanks Dianthus. :)

Turner is right here. They were thinking about adding it, but they haven't gotten around to it. (I suggested it for CivAssist here.)

Here is an article on war weariness.

Calculations of wwp:
All starts at 0.
Subtract 30 wwp if the AI attacks you, except when AI is provoked by:
- use of nuclear weapons
- failed spy mission
Anything else? Please tell me if you find something.

Add 1 wwp if you have units in enemys territory when in war. (In beginning of the turn)

As I see it, if you don't do anything that causes war weariness (units in their territory, if you lose a unit, etc), the war happiness will last indefinately. Once you do get at least one war weariness 'point', it'll go away.

Ask in that thread if you want a better answer.

The reason that ainwood and I haven't implemented this is that we don't know how much the AI thinks techs/resources are worth. We know how much gold and gpt the AI has available, but that's not something we can just present back to a user as it would be spoiler information. If anyone knows how to calculate how much the AI will pay then we would both be interested!
