Sounds ok to me expect could it be the other units are fortified?

are you pressing the "move units of the same type" button and not "move all units" button.

yeah i tried both got nothing from either and no the units arent fortified... maybey if I patch to 1.22 it might fix the glitch?

Please forgive me if I'm posting this question in the wrong place, or if the answer already appears above (I just couldn't wait to read 48 pages before asking  ).

I'm playing a new game in C3 "complete", which I guess is PTW 1.22 (it says 1.22 on the opening screen). I've read that trading contact with other civs has been delayed until you discover Navigation (IIRC), but thought I also saw something about a patch/fix/mod that would restore this ability to go with the discovery of Map Making. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

I'm guessing that you've actually got C3C 1.22. Do you mean map trading rather than contact trading? I believe there was a change to the techs for Multi-player to move map trading back from Navigation to Map Making, but it was left at Navigation for single player.

I just bought Civilization 3 without the add-ons for 4 quid (bargain! :D )
But whenever I try to edit the game on Civ3Edit and I try my new scenario out, it keeps crashing  how can I stop this from happening?

Uh, yeah . . . Conquests 1.22 (doh! :crazyeye: ) Actually, I DO mean contact trading, but I read after posting that it comes with Printing, not Navigation. Too bad there's no way to restore it to Map Making for SP.

Thanks for clearing this up, Dianthus.

I just got into civ 3 again, and got the complete edition b/c I somehow lost vanilla...I'm sort of a newb I've realized from reading through these forums...at any rate I cannot figure out how to view my reputation, how do you do that? I can't find it anywhere. Also, I made a deal with another civ, then they got conquered by someone else the next turn, and I got a bad rep as a result (I think this is why). Is that possible? And if so, are there any other really stupid ways it can happen I ought to know about? Another thing is how do you find out what governments the comp players are using? Last thing is that I seem to have big issues with corruption (tons of 'failed states'), and I looked over the corruption guide, but I'm wondering what method people use to control corruption. Do you build tons of courthouses, forbidden temple, go to communism, etc? Do you limit the number of cities you build? Use we love the king days? Or do you just have to live with it? I'm experimenting but it's hard to know what works best. All right, thanks a lot....really the first questions are the most important since the last one's a bit complicated.

Alright, if the AI will not accept any sort of per turn deal, then your rep has been ruined. So just propose a deal that is much better for them than you (and includes a lux, gpt, etc), if your advisor still says the deal is unacceptable, then your rep is ruined.
And, yes, there are many very stupid ways that deals can get broken. The only ones I can think of ATM are destruction of roads connecting the two civs or harbors (this happens to me all too often)
To see what govt the AI is under, go to your Military Advisor, and select the civ.
I never have much of a problem with corruption, or at least nothing that a few police stations will clear right up. :)

You can't directly view your rep as it's not a scale measurement; you either have it intact or you don't. Once it's broken you cannot get it back. To check it offer the AI 1gpt for 10g. If the advisor says there is no way they will accept then your rep is broken.

Yes that will break your rep. It shouldn't do, but it's a bug you have to live with. Try not to make per turn deals with small civs.

Other ways you can break your rep include: a barb galley blocking a coastal trade route (for a lux deal), going to war with a neighbour which blocks a land trade route, and losing the resource you are trading away by losing a city. There are many other ways but I cannot think of them all now.

Go to the military advisor. Select each civ by clicking on the box on the right. Their current government is displayed next to their civ name.

Corruption is just something you need to learn how to manage. In far away cities you can irrigate all the tiles and hire specialists. Communism is a good option if you have a large empire. Don't restrict building cities; even a 90% corrupt city is producing something. Plus, for every city you build that is one less for the AI.

The other methods you mention are definitely good options. Build courthouses in moderately corrupt cities. Get the Forbidden Palace built asap. We love the king days are good for reducing waste, but they do not affect commerce corruption.

Thanks for all the answers everybody--that was really helpful. Too bad about the reputation being a little buggy, but I like this game too much to care about that much.

Make sure you have version 1.29f displayed in the lower left corner of the main menu screen. If not, get the patch.

watorrey gave an answer as well, but can we know what you were trying to do with the editor? If you try to add new units, civilizations, technologies, etc, you have to edit the right text files and have graphics for them as well. However, if you are just making a map, then it should work.

I assume you are running Windows? If not there are special considerations when running the editor for Mac OS.

Question: my science slider keeps switching by itself. I want it to stay at 0 so i can use my scientist to research at minimal pace but it keeps switching to 20%. I'm playing rhye's expansion mod and have finish researching everything.

If I build the UN, do I have to have a vote? If I don't want to have a vote, does it mean no one else can win diplomaticly? And if I decide to have a vote, and my friend will be voting for himself (25% population) and there will be another civ (25% land) and that civ is gracious to both of us, who will they vote? Also, if I have more than 25% land, will there even be a third civ in the voting?

whichever one he likes more

not necessarily

Thanks, I guess I'm going for the UN, but not the vote then (to prevent my friend from having a chance at the diplomatic victory). I have more land, money, army and 4 techs ahead, so I have a good shot at the spaceship...

I have a noobie question about MPPs vs Military Alliances. I'm playing Persia (Civ3 vanilla 1.29f) and I have an MPP with the Greeks. The Greeks and Egypt formed a military alliance against the Zulus and both declared war on the Zulus.

Am I expected to declare war on the Zulus also, or am I exempted because the Greeks (with Egypt's help) are the aggressors and weren't attacked BY the Zulus? I'm confused by the concept of MPP "protection".

Also, will I take a rep and/or attitude hit if I do nothing?
