Q Do auto-produced units require maintenance the same way normally produced units do (government allotments)?

Gainey Bo, Wattory thanks alot I've had the game for over a year but I haven't gotten too deep into the editor (excpet to modify the rules a bit for quicker growth/more realistic unit strengths). :D

What are unit costs? Is it a maitenance cost, or just the amount of money that goes into all the units I'm building at a particular time?

Alright thanks.

Also, is there a way to figure out what countries are building, or have built what parts of the spaceship??

Okay. One last question. Say I've already passed 2050, if a country completes the ship, do they win? And more importantly, does the game end?

The game ends at 2050, if you're playing the default 540 turns. (In PTW/C3C, you can set the game length from 1 to 1000 turns.) If after any victory condition is met, then any other victory condition met will not result in another win. However, it is possible to hit two victory conditions on the same turn. But only one counts.

Which is why you can build the spaceship after any VC is met, but can't launch it.

Silent declaration of war.
Twice in my current game, one civ has attacked me and there was no popup from an advisor saying they declared war. In the first case, it was obvious. A lone tank was moving through heading for the other side to attack the enemy. It turned an attacked one of my cities about half way across. In the other case, I was being attacked by one civ and they were bombarding my coast. The other civ, which I was at peace with, started bombarding, too. It wasn't immediately clear that it was happening, because the civ looked like its ships were just random-walking while the first civ was bombarding. But, they joined in the fun, too.

Any reason why I wouldn't see an advisor popup and say that a civ as declared war?

Civ3 1.29f

Edit: The civ was in a Mil Alliance against me before these 2 incidents, I think. But, there was no MA when the silent wars occured. I have not been in any MPP this game.
I guess vigilance is the watch-word.

I'd bet you were at war with the civ in question before (maybe not technically, but at least renegotiated the peace treaty then).
If the peace treaty was combined with a MA, the whole treaty sign up is abandoned in case the MA condition is not true anymore (i.e. victim of MA gets wiped out or you sign peace with victim of MA).
If your MA-partner signs peace with the victim, you get the war pop-up.

IIRC there's no submarine bug in civ3 1.29.
I think Grille is right. It could've been a peace treaty combined with a gpt or luxury. After 20 turns, the AI will renegotiate this to a normal peace treaty. You will be given this option if you have "always renegotiate deals" toggled (which is a good idea anyway). Perhaps the AI decided not to renew the treaty once the 20 turns had passed.

It happened again. Silent declaration of war by the Blues.

It seems to be related to the ROP deal I had with another civ (the Oranges). When the Oranges declared war on the Blues, the Blues silently attacked me.

Well just move all the units you want in the stack on the same square, then press 'J' to move them all at the same time :) You might need a newer version of Civ (IE conquests) if it doesn't work, or maybe try patching your game.

Control - J is also to move units of just one type (workers, or just warriors, etc).

Stack movement works in Civilization III v1.29f and all the expansions.
