I'm not sure if airfields can trade...

Hum, well, it says in the pedia that airfields has the same functions as a airport in a city...
EDIT: for air units, that is...

EDIT: And do you have an airport on your main continent?

Yupp. I have lots of airports on the main continent.

This may be a silly question, but how do you get fish and whales? In the civilopedia it says a worker must work the square, but of course they are not going into the sea.

You can't create fish or whale tiles, they are just there or not there, like other bonus resources. A citizen in a city that has one in its radius has to work the fish or whale tiles, not a worker unit.

Suggestions for managing corruption in conquered cities?
As I rampage across the continent, the cities I conquer are completely corrupt. One shield of production, etc. Any strategies that might help?

Currently. I build a temple, courthouse, barracks, and jail if I want to make a city somewhat productive. The temple to get cultural territory expansion. The courthouse and jail to fight corruption and culture-flip. And barracks to produce veteran units. If gold is rolling in, I'll selectively rush them.

Ideas?

Well, I'm what you might call a forum troll, been here few days just reading...

BUT, I have a problem:

I have decided to register (no, thats not my problem), and the lack of my own avatar is killing me, but for the life of me I couldn't locate a place ot modify the file. Could someone point it out to me perhaps?

Fantastic, I apologize for overlooking that and wasting you time, but thank you for giving your help so willingly :)

And the correct terminology would be lurker, not troll. Troll is something entirely different here. ;)

Hello Everyone out there. I am an old Civ fan (1,2, and 3) and have reciently dug out my civ3 disk (don't ask why it made it's way away, i think we have all had issues around us when it comes out) but now that i'm back i reloaded some of my old save games, but i discovered that i didn't have a copy of a map that i had edited... and i know it took me forever to edit. Does anyone know what i can do to pull my map out of my saved game? i'm currently running 1.29f (not upgraded because a friend doesn't have the upgrade).

But i love this site, i stumbled across it with the forum link for the 1000 reasons that you know ur playing civ too much. i'm about halfway through the posts, so maybe i'll be done soon. i've also pillaged my way through downloads, so maybe once i'm finished re-editing some of my maps, i'll put them up

great to be here and have a community of other civ fanatics

Apropos

Thank you verry much, i was searching all through that area, but it seams not as much as i thought. it also saves me hours of remaking that map

Hi, I'm an experienced Civ2 player, new to Civ3.

My question:

What are the effects of disease? Sometimes it seems to knock out the food production, sometimes it eliminates a citizen. With a city built on floodplains, once disease strikes, is it worth working these? Does it help if you alternate between working a floodplain and working a different square?

Welcome :)

Disease is just something you have to live with at times. If it strikes many turns in a row you can lose alot of population but that is the only effect of it. Disease from floodplains is eliminated with sanitation. Jungles always cause disease.

Can't upgrade UU Immortals to Militia.
I'm playing a GOTM-style game with Civ3 1.29f and the GOTM pack. I've always been able to upgrade these units. The Civpedia says they can be upgraded. The only thing different in this game is that I have Leonardo's Workshop and can upgrade for half price. All other units upgrade as expected.
Is this a GOTM pack problem? Or, what?

Hmmm... My bad then!

Lurker it is!

Civ3 v1.29f huge random map (apparently continents, cold, 4 billion age). Monarch difficulty. All civs active.

Japan started with a capitol near tundra with grassland/forest/hills/mountains in the general area, and no rivers. Plentiful fur and horses, but few other resources. Only logical expansion was southward where we hoped to find more hospitable settlement sites. Soon we discovered the Chinese who lived in the only decent agricultural area on the same continent, the legendary land of milk and honey, with broad plains and several rivers within their territory, wines and cattle and grain, who were expanding northward. Tokugawa rubbed his hands in anticipation!

Through a series of heroic wars the Japanese finally conquered those fertile lands (although China survives on a small southern island surrounded by Greece). Now a series of irrigation canals built with Chinese slave labor is already sending the life-giving waters northward to starving Japanese cities. During this remorseless expansion Japan neglected building any wonders, which were all discovered by other civs (unfortunately, none by the Chinese!). The Japanese's empire's infrastructure also was neglected during the wars. However most importantly, during this conquest the Japanese carelessly broke one or more treaties with the Chinese. In Japan's defense, they deserved it!

It is now 1000AD, and we just entered the middle ages. Japan is the most powerful nation in the known world, but still backward technologically and culturally. They are about 3 techs behind the other civs, though busy demobilizing the relatively large military machine, building libraries and marketplaces, and have science at 40%. I hope to avoid any more wars for a while (untile I've got a nice Samurai army to invade the southern continent) quickly catch up to the other civs in research, start building some nice fat cultural wonders too.

Although I'm alone on this continent and hope don't really need to trade, it is a PITA that the other civs now won't trade squat with me, not even for cash or cities. Except the Iriquois whom I have two luxury-for-luxury deals. But I want to trade some techs! Any advice on rebuilding a reputation?

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place but there is so much info on this site (awsome) - and so much cool stuff (really awsome) - I am having some trouble. I am new to Mods. Is there a link to a resource on how to install new units, resources, etc. I think I have graphics down but not the rest. Any pointing in the right direction would be great.

i'm probably not the best person to ask but here would be agood place to start

welcome to CFC [party]
