Well, now you've confused me......Are you agreeing with me that "Dianthus' Diagram" doesn't work? :crazyeye:
(I know my City Naming System isn't helping here! )
It works if you put the forest in the middle rather than the city center.

OK, gonna try this Quick Answers thing, because this is bugging me, and I can't readily find an answer here or in the manual.

What is a "bonus grassland" square? Was playing last night, and started noticing those little white (blue?) dots in some of the grassland squares. My first thought was that this is where future bonus resources might pop up, but that doesn't make sense. I've seen some reference to "bonus grassland" squares in some of the strat guides, but they don't really explain them... So, here's your chance. Thanks!

It's a grassland tile with 1 extra "bonus" shield.

IM BACK!!!! so im playing the game right ? aany ways the AI aahas this 1 square of cultere RIgt in the middle of the ocean WAT THE HEK  :crazyeye:

Chingis: Dianthus is correct, but I'll expand a bit on the answer. There are two types of grassland. Standard & Bonus. A standard unimproved grassland gives 2 food, 0 shield & 0 commerce (2-0-0), while a bonus grassland is 2-1-1. When you mine them you get 2-1-0 for standard and 2-2-0 for bonus grass (BG). If you irrigate them you'll get 3-0-0 & 3-1-0 (unless in despotism). When you rail & mine you get 2-2-0 or 2-3-0 (again not in despotism).

Generally, a BG is the most powerful tile without a bonus item in the game. Usually you'll mine them in the early part of the game.

Dannergreg: What you are seeing is the AI culture has expanded into the water off the coast of a city. Water tiles can be claimed if they are coastal or sea tiles, but not ocean, so if you have a sea tile surrounded by ocean tiles and the culture has forced border expansions to include the sea tile it will appear as part of the nations territory, while the surrounding tiles remain unclaimed.

I have another question please do not bon me for this . OR else:suicide: But any ways, on the box to my :civ3: gold it showed something looking like this:sniper: with a guy by him but i looked in the civopedeia but copuldnt find it Help!
oh and by the way thanx

Is it on this image? I don't see what you are looking for. Perhaps they just made a drawing of a soldier or something and put it on the the cover - not everything on the cover is in the game. :)

Hi Guys

Wondering if there is a thread or document which explains the victory screen ie the screen where your civilization is rated against the others.

Also how one can affect the various categories

I'm referring to the screen which pops up with F9 or F10

Thanks in advance

You know, at about 1:00 a.m. last night, it dawned on me that this was the same as the grassland with a shield in Civ II. Don't know what that didn't occur to me earlier, but I feel pretty silly. Just wanted to come out with that....

What does actually the RaR word "cumulative" practically mean?

If there are 3 buildings increasing science with e.g. 25%, 25% and 50%, does this mean that the science increases with together 100% then?

Are the effects cumulative in ordenairy Civ?

What is it like if it's not cumulative?

Thanks

Exactly right :goodjob:.

No, it just tends to be less noticeable with normal Civ as there are less buildings.

People often think they are applied like this:
10g * 25% * 25% * 50% = 23.4375 = 23 or 24g

It's actually:
10g * (25%+25%+50%) = 20g

Hi!
I know it is trivia but now I just don't remember and would like to know:

HOw many foods do you need for a city to grow from 1 to 2, from 2 to 3, etc?

From 1 to 2 it needs 20... how is the other stages?

thanks...
