In scenarios where the default time scales are not the years, how are the dates presented (eg for wonders builts etc)?

For weekly timescales, how is it formatted (year with week number? Or does it give months as well? How many weeks to a month (4?) and how many weeks to a year (52?))

If the format is weeks, here's an example of how the date looks in the lower right corner:

Week 23, 1964 AD

It's always: 'unit of time' 'amount of turns', 'year' 'BC/AD'

Hope that helped :)

You can sell the Forbidden Palace and build it again, correct?

Just checking: 1 AI left alive with 1 city & 1 Settler. You destroy the AI's city but the Settler is roaming the land. A Conquest Victory will NOT be triggered? :)

I have a question to do with a RaR-game, but probably this is just as valid in any Civ game. I'm sure it's a classic QA question...
I have just built and am about to build a wonder that gives you free improvments in every city. I have heard tips about selling all of these kinds of imps before you get the wonder.

First of all: Do you keep the buildings after it's obslete (but paying an imp fee for them)?

Then, do you keep the building if you had built it before you got the wonder?
If so, is raising before getting the wonder any good then?

Thanks

When you sell the buildings before the wonder completes, you'll get the gold and shields for them (I can't remember right now how they are calculated), but you'll get the improvement back the next turn, and you won't have to pay upkeep for it.

"Destroy" the improvement the turn before if you are sure you'll get the wonder, yes (you'll get the extra gpt a turn earlier due to no maintenance because you don't have them in the interturn).

Yeah sure, but do you loose e.g. all of your RaR Shrines the turn it gets obslete, so you must build all of them once again?

Yes, you will, if it expires.

For example, in C3C, if you build the Temple of Artemis, you'll get a free temple in every city. But when it expries, you lose all the temples in the cities that you got for free.

ie; If you have two cities, your Capital (which has a temple) and city X (which doesn't have a temple), when you build ToA, your Capital won't pay maintenance for the Temple it built earlier, and City X will get a free temple. But, when ToA expires, City X loses its free temple (no temple now) and your Capital will have to pay for its temple once again.

Ahh thanks. So it's worth it to sell off all of the buildings, for then to build them all over again later when it expires? You would probably have much more produktion and buildings of another dimention... Yeah, I would say yes.

However, if you're going for a 100k type win, it's better to keep the temples as once they hit the 1000 year age, their culture will double (to 4 cpt). If you sell them and then rebuild them, the counter starts over. Besides the return is so little (under 10g per), you're better off keeping them than having to rebuild them later. One other thing, the temples given by ToA do not get the doubling from the 1K age (pretty sure about this).

denyd's right, culture won't double from ToA (and I think all free-culture-building wonders).

I sell the improvements if it's a wonder like Sun Tzu's or The Pyramids, etc, that doesn't expire, but if it does expire, then I generally won't, because it'll save me anywhere from 30-60 shields in the long term.

Didn't know about that 1000 year rule, is that rule in every Civ3 version? Also RaR?

Yes, even for R&R (just finished a R&R SG training game with DocT) and all levels and mod-packs that I've played share that benefit. It's one of the main reasons some people pop-rush temple early in the game when going for 20K or 100K victories.

Have you already triggered another victory condition? (Past 2050AD, maybe?)

Are you sure Spaceship victory is turned on?

If SS victory was turned off, wouldn't it be impossible to build the parts in the first place?
