I see, so it's a ratio. I've just always seen mine as lowest, even when I'm about to win a conquest victory! :hammer:

And I've seen lots of screenshots of people pwning Sid or Deity and still having the worst military service.

Somebody please give me a "Civ for Dummies" answer on what civil engineers are.

Thx,

Stunner :goodjob:

When I loaded C3C on my PC, did it automatically load it with the most updated patch file, or do I still have to get it and install it?

Thx,

Each civil engineer will give you two uncorrupted shields (towards non-unit production only). Very handy for extremely corrupt cities - you can get their food elevated, make a CE or two, and cut building times substantially.

Edit: available with replaceable parts.

Hi, fe3333au! Have a good one!

They are an option for citizens ... entertainer, tax collector, scientist, that are available IIRC after a certain government is achieved ...
They increase shield production and a Police Officer reduces corruption

You'll still need to patch it (patches fix bugs and balance issues found after initial (CD-copy) release). Go here and get v1.22 for C3C (the very first link):

Addendum to Sparta's Post: If you buy Civ III Complete, you will get the latest (and Final) patches to Vanilla Civ 3, PTW and Conquests included in the 3-cd set! :)

I would expect to see that, due to the area/perimeter ratio. Defending your borders of a big empire requires less troops than a small area, relative to the number of citizens in the empire.
In addition, most human players don't keep troops in cities, lowering their overall number. Also, human players generally place cities more closely, increasing the pop, and lowering the ratio.
On the higher levels, the AI unit support is so huge, it would be a miracle for the human to keep up with troop numbers - hence the importance of artillery units.

I've never built the wonder that gives you a temple in all your continental cities before, but I'm curious: what happens if you build cathedrals in cities that got the temple bonus, but then the wonder becomes obsolete -- the temples are removed. Are the cathedrals removed as well?

no the cathedrals stay and so do the temples. its a bug that gives you an advantage but once the wonder is obselete you have to pay forany temples that stay.

The cathedrals stay, just as a bank stays if you sell a marketplace. The temples however will not stay, unless the city already had a temple when temple of artemis was built.

In Conquests (v1.22) can you build a city within another civ's cultural boundaries while you are at war with that same civ? Or do you have to clear out the cultural boundary 1st by taking/razing cities?

If you are at war with them you can build inside their territory as long as it is at least 2 tiles from the nearest city as usual. If you are not at war, you will be required to declare war before you can build the city.

My understanding there is that you simply can't build cities on adjacent squares, no matter who owns the neighboring city! :)
(viz. There's no special rule for building a city inside another Civ's cultural borders, except the War Declaration stipulation.)

In bottom right console there are a set of numbers such as (1.2.0). What does this stand for.

Is there a way to bring back those civilization rankings that are shown early in the game (e.g. "Ten wealthiest nations")

It's your Tax, Science and Luxury, although it might be Science, Tax, Luxury.

As for those reports, I don't think there is. I've never been able to find it, in three plus years of playing.

Now, if you were to use CivAssist or CRpSuite, links in my sig, you would know every turn who's the richest. At least, of those you have contact with.

After I win a game (my first) vs. the AI in C3C, I get the histograph and am invited to hit play and watch the way the world shaped itself.

Problem - It won't work! Is this a common problem? Does it have a common solution?

Thx,

Sometimes it takes a while to get started.

You might want to check out CRpSuite, link in my sig. Viewer (program installed with CRpSuite) will allow you to look at the replay at any time...
