Couple questions:

1. I see people talking a lot about the Civ editor. Is this a [c3c] thing? Or is it a custom made tool?
2. I know that "flipping" is to convert an enemy city w/ your superior culture. How difficult is this? What are the general tactics to do this?

Thanks! :)

In custom units, there is often a text file with suggested stats for the unit. One of the stats often included is suggested cost. I've always found these to be really low, i.e. suggested cost for a tank be 10. Am I missing some sort of assumed multiplying factor?
For PTW and Vanilla Civ IIRC, the shield cost is really (INPUT VALUE in Shield Cost * 10), which is why a tank is 100 shields (10 * 10). In Conquests, you write out the whole number, which is why some units (Jaguar Warrior, Curragh) are 15 shields, and not multiples of 10.

1. This isn't a C3C thing or a custom made tool. It's available in your Civilization III, PTW, or C3C folder (use the newest editor you have, so C3C if you have it). It's called "Civ3ConquestsEdit" for C3C, and similarly for PTW and Vanilla. The C3C folder is at C:/Program Files *OR* Atari/Civilization III/Conquests/ for a default install.

2. It depends on the level. On higher levels, the AIs will be able to build cultural buildings easier, and thus have more culture, so it's harder. The general plan is to rush culture buildings (Libraries give the most culture / shield cost) in the cities surrounding the one you want to flip, and just wait.

Ha. That makes a lot more sense. I knew I was missing something...

ok.... I saw a keyboard option in the old quick answers thread that allowed you to see the map w/o the cities/mountains/forest/etc and now that I want to use it I cannot remember what the keys are to do this.... must have had a brain fart.... sorry....

any help would be appreciated. I need to find out where the americans are getting their horses from.... The are not trading with anyone that I know of for them and I don't see any horses (I just took their only visible source  )... I know there is a way to see if they have a city settled on them but... alas... like I said.... my brain must have flushed that information... :(

Thanks

Control+Shift+N? (triangle->map->clean map)

Control+Shift+N allows you to choose what to hide/not hide, then clears the map accordingly. Control+Shift+M clears the map with whatever options were last used.

WHen you select "Air Superiority" what does that do, for aircraft?

Then your plane will defend against bombing strikes. It does not work against recon or rebasing. It has a 50% chance of intercepting bombers and the like, and a 5% chance of intercepting stealth planes. Then the chances of actually killing the bomber is less.

Thanks.... I'll add this tip to my hints & tricks file to keep my brain from loosing it again.... ;)

Welcome to CFC!

It sounds like your city is unhappy/upset. You'll need to balance the citizens before it'll behave again. In other words, if you zoom into the city, there will need to be as many (or more) happy citizens as there are unhappy, or they all need to be content.

There are several things you can do for this city:
-Pull a citizen off the tiles, it would switch an unhappy citizen to a specialist.
-What kind of government are you in? And how many units are in the city? Depending on the circumstances, you might be able to increase the Military Police garrison and restore order.
-Do you have any luxuries you can connect to the city?
-You could also increase your luxury slider under the F1 domestic advisor.

yep... your city is rioting... Try playing the game with the city govenor set to manage citizens moods until you get used to game play... then you will work into getting used to controlling your population happiness.

Double click on the city.... Above and to the left of the production box is a little box that lets you go to the city goveneor screen... Go into that city and check the box that says "manage citizens moods" to yes.... then check the box on the bottom that says default for new cities.... this should help you get started to where you can play and learn more about the game... If you are an onld Civ I or II player and you just started Civ III you are just like everyone else here... We all had a bit of a learning curve when we first got into Civ III.

Hope this helps... (be ready for more frustrations... they come and go for some time...)
