No, I was just using Conquests as an example. You could put it in your ../Civilization III/Scenarios/ folder or ../Civilization III/Civ3PTW/Scenarios/ folder. Then, choose "Scenarios" instead of "Civ-Content" on the main menu.

What version of civ do you have?

Ok, so you put your scenarios in C:/Program Files/Infogrames Interactive/Civilization III/Scenarios/. You can use the editor found in the Civ3 folder too.

Maps and scenarios have special filename extentions to indicate what version they are for. Vanilla civ3 = .bic , PTW = .bix , C3C = .biq
They are backward compatible. Thus you can play a .bic file in PTW.
If you have the Russian version of civ, i doubt that many maps/scenarios will be compatible.

I was looking at the minimap on Civ3 and there are different shades on the areas I occupy. I can't make out any kind of pattern. Are there any color differences on the minimap normally? I never notice any before. thx

Strangely enough, the lighter areas of the minimap corresponded to deserts on the map. The map was not on the topographic setting, but the deserts had a lighter shade of the same color than the other terrain. It seems very strange, but there it is. Thank you.

Here is something I discovered last game. For the newer people out there, I'm sure the veterans know this already.

I had Japan and wanted to get a good start against my enemies, I was eagerly anticipating having my Samurai slice them down. (They eventually did.) I built about ten horsemen to do a mass upgrade the instant I got the tech, but I could not get them to upgrade. There was no upgrade button, I tried hitting u or shift-u but it would not work. I had checked before in the civpedia and it listed horseman upgrade to Samurai. Much later I was looking over my units in the military advisor screen and when I clicked on my remaining horsemen it gave me the upgrade option. I would not work any other way but through the advisor screen. This came too late for me this time but I plan to use this method to upgrade next time I have the same problem. Thanks

Shift - U upgrades all units that are in barracks, and only if you have enough money. If you do Shift - U with 9/10 units in barracks, 1 of them won't be upgraded. The formula for upgrading is (Shield Difference between the two * 3) (SD * 2 in PTW or vanilla Civ3). So a warrior to swordsmen is: 30 - 10 = 20 * 3 = 60 gold in C3C, 40 in PTW or vanilla Civ3. If you don't have enough gold to upgrade all the units in barracks using Shift - U, it won't work. It's much better to do it manually, hitting "U" in all the cities that have barracks. Move your units to barracks, and you can upgrade a lot quicker than the advisor screen, though it does work.

New poster here.

Cheftain-level Republican war-mongerer. Not yet able to build police stations (but soon). Is there any way to reduce corruption in far-from-capital cities other than building courthouses (which don't seem to be very effective)? I have built the Forbidden Palace (capital is north, FP is mid-continent), but the far south of the continent is still extremely corrupt. Does corruption go down if you aren't at war? Any other general tips on corruption management? Thanks in advance.

Ginger_Ale, i can upgrade 9/10 units, with all 10 in barracks, if i only have money for 9, atleast i think i can. Where did you get the info for needing all the money for all of them for shift-u to work?

No.........Corruption is a Fact Of Life!!

Unless you're going for a Domination, Histographic or 100K Culture Victory, far-flung cities won't do you much good! I use them to produce Workers and Settlers mostly.......by irrigating the city's squares and then Gold-Rushing the W's & S's.

You can also turn the excess food laborers into scientists, tax collectors or engineers.......corruption does NOT apply to these specialists in ANY city. ;)

What you do with Mapfinder is input what criteria you'd like in a starting location on a map and MF restarts Civ over and over, saving the 4000bc files of any map meeting your requirements.

It might be helpful to read the Mapfinder thread. Coincidentally enough, links to said thread are located in my sig and EMan's sig above your post.

Mapfinder is fantastic!!! If I leave it running overnight, it may show that about 500 maps have been generated, but it usually saves around 30 or 40 that meet my basic requirements.

You can set almost anything you want as requirements, but the more specifics you set, the fewer maps will save. I have mine set for at least 1 cow on grass, 3 or more tiles with a river, no jungle, no marsh and no more than 2 floodplain tiles (too much food and too few shields for a capitol city). I now have enough good maps saved to last me, oh, about 5 lifetimes. :p

AWESOME would be a better description! ;)

(P.s. And Dianthus gets Lots of Credit too!)

Sounds cool. :) But I always reckon that there's more fun in just randomly generating a map, then playing on the first one that's generated, whether it's a cr*p or brilliant starting location. That's what I've always done, and probably what I will always continue to do. ;)

Can a city still flip even when the nation you took it from has been eliminatd from the game ? What i mean by this is you have just wiped out the such and such (Austrians in the game i was just playing) but there is still resistance in some of there cities. As we are aware these can sometimes flip back during resistance. Can it still happen tho if they have no remaining cities left ? Just non assimilated people in your recently captured cities. Was getting kinda woried in my last game as i had 8 Austrian cities resisting luckily none of them flipped.
