There was actually a discussion about this maybe a year ago, and a number of tests were made. The clear conclusion was that the resources were placed purely randomly.

In PTW and C3C, can you buy or sell units to other civs (like selling techs or resources)? I couldn't find this anywhere.

Thanks

Nope. This is a feature that is likely to be in Civ4 though :)

Edit: You can trade workers. Put 'em in your capitol and you can trade them for gold/techs/whatever. They appear just like anything else on the diplomacy screen. The same goes for the AI.

A quick question that's been bugging me for a while. How do you stop a deal (ROP, luxuries/resources) which is continuing beyond 20 turns? In preferences I think I've got "always continue deals" and I've got an ROP with the Incas that has gone on for at least 30 turns now (in the trade window there is no longer any number in parenthesis) and I want to attack them, but I need to discontinue the RoP. Is there any way to do it?

Bring up the diplo screen with the Civ in question, go to make a deal, and look down at the bottom of that window. You will see an option for "active". That will list your active deals with the Civ. Click on the deal you want to end, it will pop up in the main window. Just remove it from the table, and its done.

What's the citizen break down in a city BEFORE the turn it goes into disorder.

I don't quite understand. If you're meaning, what's the state of the citizens in a city before it goes into civil disorder, then...
Ie, if you are playing on Deity. You don't have any improvements in your city. You don't have any units in your city. You aren't at war, and you don't have any luxuries connected up. Your city is size 1.
The only citizen in it at the moment will be content. As soon as your town grows to size 2 (on Deity, that'll make a citizen unhappy), your city will not go into civil disorder. If you look inside that City (on the first turn it is size 2), you would find that there is one content citizen, and one unhappy citizen. If you don't amend this, then next turn, yer city will go into civil disorder --- as if the number of unhappy citizens outweigh the number of happy 'uns.

Hope that answers your question, if not, then elaborate :p

Edit: Grammar/spelling

Excellent, exactly what I was looking for. Now, why did I negotiate an alliance with them against the Americans a mere 8 turns ago? Arrrgh...

Can someone help?

Sometimes when I win with a Space Race victory I seem to get a bonus of about 800 points. Am I going crazy? If not, how do I qualify for the points, because I don't always get them?

Also, how on earth do I set up an army? I've got a leader and I can see the button, but nothing seems to work. How do I select the units to make up the army?

And thirdly, what factors effect my approval rating when I press F11? Does this rating matter (apart from in a diplomatic victory)?

Appreciate your help...:D :thanx:

If you win, by whatever means, before 2050 AD, you get a certain amount of bonus points. It is calculated like so:
(2050 - Current year) * Difficulty level = Bonus score

The numbers for each difficulty level are...

Chieftan - 1
Warlord - 2
Regent - 3
Monarch - 4
Emporer - 5
Deity - 6

So if you were to win on the year 1950 AD, at Warlord level, then it would be calculated like this:

(2050 - 1950) * 2 = 200 points

The 200 points would be added to your score when you won. Although in your case, it would be 800.

Also, how on earth do I set up an army? I've got a leader and I can see the button, but nothing seems to work. How do I select the units to make up the army?

You put the leader in one of your cities, then click "build army".
To put units inside the army, simply select the desired unit, then put it on the same square as the "Army", and then click the load button (where the worker actions usually are), or press L.
Just incase you don't know, you can only have 3 units in each army -- unless you have built "the Pentagon". And for each army you have, you require to have 4 cities...
Note: Once you've put a unit inside an Army, you can't get 'em back out.

And thirdly, what factors effect my approval rating when I press F11? Does this rating matter (apart from in a diplomatic victory)?

That rating thingie has nothing to do with other civ's attitudes towards you -- which I also used to think too btw... It's the percentage of your population which are happy. Thus, it doesn't affect diplo victory...

Hope that all helps :)

Thanks, Gain. Yes, my question was basically a question of ratio between content, happy, unhappy, etc.

How do you conquer a city that's on a one-square island? This must have been asked before, but still don't know the solution. Anyone?

Beserkers or Marines, who can attack from transports. :)

Regarding Hidden Nationality Units:

I know the AI's opinion of you goes down a "point" when you use hidden nationality units. However, does the AMOUNT of units effect them? In other words, is there any difference between my owning one privateer and an entire fleet?

Also, if you are at war with the AI and utilizing hidden nat. units, do they count losses to the units as losses to you? I mean this: if you sink vast amounts of troops in troop transports with a fleet of privateers, will the AI perceive it as YOU sinking those transports and ask for peace?

Lastly, do hidden nat. units figure into your power rating? If I were to make ICBMs or Tactical Nukes hidden nationality units and owned a large amount of them, would the score and attitude of my rivals be effected?

On the world map, it shows the colour of the territory and all the cities.. now I wanna see the comparison of my country, but cause its a world map, there is so many towns, that the white squares cover most of it. How do I turn off the White City squares? so I only see the colours in the land.

Also, I have an Immortals Army, now they upgrade to Guerilla.. since the army is full of Immortals, can I upgrade the army to a Guerilla Army?

Ukraineboy: nope. Once you stick units in an army, they are truly stuck in there.

AFAIK, you can't do that (it might be possible in PTW by turning off some of the map overlays). But the F3 map is slightly bigger, so it might help.
