with purging the cache-file you guys mean...deleting everything in the file?

I followed the instructions which the link humba 3 posted. I created a Notepad doc, saved it in the civilizations folder named HN.bat. Then I right clicked the file and clicked edit. The link says "Put this line in:
cmd /c start /High HN.exe" does that mean put that line into the text document, or to add that to the file name... If the second does that mean that the file should be cmd /c start /High HN.exe??? Does this mean the actual file name should be C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\ cmd /c start /High HN.exe saved not as a text file... If that utterly confused you im sorry cuz im am utterly confused myself. Did I do it right???

You need to put this line:

cmd /c start /High HN.exe

in the document. And save that notepad document as .bat

And just to clarify for the confused... hn.exe is just an example file name. For Civ4, the file name is civilization4.exe
