Civ4 isnt working at all on 64bit Vista. Let me explain.
I just built this computer this week. heres the specs:
Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 Ghz
4Gb Memory DDR2@ 800Mhz
(SLI) Nvidia Geforce 8800GT Superclocked @ 650/950
Seagate Barracuda 500Gb SATA HD 16Mb Cache @ 7200 Rpm
Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (Vista)
Vista Home Premium x64 Bit Service Pack 1
And heres the install procedure :
Installed Civilization 4 - NO PATCHS -
Installed Civilization 4: Warlords - NO PATCHS -
Installed Civilization 4: Beyond The Sword (This game patched both previous installed games; Civ4, and Warlords to latest version.) - PATCHED to version 3.17 -
Things ive tried :
Run as administrator.
Run in Campatibility mode for XP service pack 2 and NT 4.0 service pack 5.
Change desktop resolution to 1024 x 768 (Currentally at 1280 x 1024).
Now heres the problem :
I get NO errors. 0.
All I do is run the game from ANY ( Civ4, Warlords, BtS) of the shortcuts and it goes through the loading thing then launchs the game. I get a black screen, it Flickers back to my desktop (seems like its in 1024x768 here) with my mouse pointer being the in-game loading pointer, then it flickers again back to my desktop.

P.S. If I enable "Create a dump file if the application crashes" I Get a error "This program has encountered a problem and needs to be closed. Do you wish to save a diagnostic file?". But I f I dont enable that option no errors.
