It's possible that this lil' move is already well known, but since I haven't actually seen it mentioned in all my years of playing this lovely mod I might as well share:

The player might notice that after having run the game for so long, inputs start to lag, the interface starts to feel kinda "sticky", general framerate might drop. I've played this mod across 3 (Windows 7, 8, and 10) PCs now and this issue and fix have remained constant.

Fix: ALT-TAB out of the game. ALT-TAB back into the game. Boom. That is all.

Additionally, it never hurts to exit the program and rerun fresh.

Disclaimer: None of what I said has anything to do with load times, turn times, or any symptom that wasn't specifically listed above. None of the above are exclusive to this lovely mod, which is doing it's best with an almost 20-year-old engine.

I've noticed the same effect but I play in windowed mode, so relaunching once I get a bit later into the game is what I do.

I also do this whenever I load a savegame while in another game. Works like a charm every time.
