Quick Questions / Quick Answers

A bug happened to me that I've never seen in years of playing the mod.
When I accumulate enough culture to unlock another tenet of social policy or ideology, a respective button pops up, but when I press it nothing happens. Just clicking sound without bringing me the policies window. Reloading doesn't help/
Anyone encountered this?

Bad news, your install IS botched, there should be a description showing up in the tooltip. I'd try manually deleting the cache folder and reinstalling VP.

Is there anything more to this than just deleting the destination folder for the installation, or is there a seperate "cache" folder?

The cache folder is on the same level as the MODs folder. So if you are in the MODs folder, you have to go 1 level up.

EDIT: The safest will be to reinstall VP after deleting the cache. The saves should be loadable (given that you do not upgrade VP in the meantime)

Hmm, didn't seem to work. Here's what I keep seeing (before and after deleting the cache and mod folder). This is on a save before I cleared those folders, so maybe the description is stuck based on how it was first loaded?

If this is the only problem with the installation that's OK I guess, but I suspect if there's something benign like this wrong there's probably more behind the curtain that's being messed up.

Can someone explain to me how Great Person Points in Capital is affected by other cities with specialists? It seems pointless to have specialists in non Capital cities with how long it takes to create great people vs the capital, especially when choosing tradition. Also, Any specific strategies here in regards to creating great people as I feel it is one of the areas where i don't quite understand the basic strategies.

Im a little confused about how spies vs thiefs work in non-Capital cities.

If I put a spy can it also steal great works and do other advanced actions and when?

If i put a thief and there is no great works to steal what does it do?

It says on the tooltip that x # of foreign agents are pursuing my spy, what does that mean?

Any other non obvious spy knowledge would be appreciated or any links to proper spy mechanics.

Can someone explain me how "Air Strike Defense" works?
Air units take the value in damage when they attack a unit with air strike defense. It's separate from units with interceptor promotions that actually use their combat strength to damage air units.

GPP are limited to the city that generates them. Specialists have lower value in satellite cities, since GPP take more time to be created, but they still will if you keep at it, and the yields are decent as well.

Spies never steal great works. Spies and thieves always perform advanced actions once the appropriate technology has been discovered.

A spy without a tech to steal or a thief without a great work to steal still provide information on the city they're in, and will still perform advanced actions.

A higher number of agents pursuing your agent will increase the likelihood that your agent will be discovered/killed when it performs an advanced action/steal.

For Civilized Jewelers Corporation, whats the benefit of trade units moving twice as fast? Does that mean trade routes reset twice as fast in number of turns?

Yes, the trade route will be completed twice as fast, which means any bonuses you get from routes completing (tourism, Ottoman UA) will trigger more often.

Wow I wish I discovered this specific sub-forum earlier, very helpful. Ima keep the questions coming, it only took 2,000 hours of play to start delving deep into mechanics lol.

1) I liberated Sweden who had been kicked out the game but his city just sits there and doesn't build units or walls/castle or anything. Is this a glitch?

2) Also, I took Venice capital from a China who owned it and kept it for myself. I was actually at war with Venice at the time separately, but after I created peace with China, it automatically created peace with Venice, for no specific reason. I had also just gone to war with Venice via, defense pact war like 4-5 turns before. Is there something im missing here?

Does anyone know what factors produce the number of stars for Tech stealing? Aka what makes a city have 5 stars when I look at the spy map?

Hello,
I play with the last Beta (21 august) on a Portugal game. Large size, epic pace, I am in 1800 and turn 470. I am at war with 2 civs (America and Indonesia), still 6 cils in the game and my end turn is very long... Any tips ?
Thx a lot !

I am playing as England. All of my City Defense Ratings (combat strength) are slowly going down across my entire empire in all cities? I am in a war but winning it and my happiness is high globally and within the cities. This includes cities nowhere near the battles. Large cities with walls, castle, arsenal, are ticking down turn by turn to 35 defense... Any possible reason for this?

Never paid much attention to these numbers, but I don't think anything like this ever happened to me. The numbers drop (once, not gradually) if you move out the garrisoned unit. Or, of course, if you sell some defensive buildings or starve the city so that the population drops, but I suppose you are not doing any of these.

How is Council of Elders supposed to work? When founding, you get 60 science and production in your holy city. When I spread it to a second city, I get 61 science and production. Is this intended? If it's capped at 20 cities (like it says), that means that for the 21st you've spread to you get a paltry 80 science and culture?

Its raw numbers are somewhat small, but you can use the science and production to rush specific wonders, that is its main job.
