quorum abolition

some of us do things exciting enough in bed to want to get in rather quickly, and those sorts of things can be rather tiring. anyway, thanks for the info octavian, it provides me with a place to start. iguanaman does have a point, could a majority vote be used to force someone to change an avatar? lets say we all decided a given thing, say, an aircraft carrier, for instance, was offensive? i really feel the quorum is doing more harm than good. btw, fionn, according to octavian this would be a senate vote issue that arose in the governor-less, therefore senate-less, period. just thought id point that out. one last thing, everyone go vote for iguanaman for trade chat rep, since he apparently has nothing better to do at nite.

hey, we all dont wanta hear what you do in bed. But you make a good point in saying everyone should go vote for me. And just because i am fully dedicated to this gamemore then i am to sleeping, is another reasone why you need to vote for me. Vote yea, abstain whatever, just go, now. Theres a link in my signature.

The quorum is based on the presidential election turnout
so if 50 people vote then half that is 25, its the way it works. Its in the constitution, if you dont like it propose a change to the constitution :)

I think the quorum is now based on the average turn-out of all the elections.

As i have said in an earlier thread i highly doubt that senate vote will come during the time period that is left before the elections. And even if it does (again i doubt it) it would probablt be defered til the elections. IF you dont like the Domestic Advisors powers get a change to the constitution. Im only following the constitution.

there probably wont be a next time, and could one of the mods delete one of my multiple posts here as long as it doesnt hurt my count :)

The quorums are good things. They guarantee that a significant portion of the populace is involved in decision making. They force a proponent to get the issue before the people. Prior to quorums there were major resolutions that were carried by 5 to 2 votes, or even 2 to 1. Quorums stop this.

Incidentally, quorums are based on an average of all the monthly elections.

A poll to force somebody to change their avatar would not be legal and would be closed by the mods. Avatar choice is a CivFanatics right and cannot be abrogated by the demo game.

You aren't referring to my avatar, are you? I thought it was really cute. I guess I can go find another one.
