I'm playing, but this is taking a lot of time. A lot of MM to do, several build changes to make (why do you gents want to build regular military units all the time?) A lot of little time consuming things, oh yeah, we had a little sneak attack from a certain lady wearing yellow.

Edit - What is the palace pre-build for? We have 20 turns left on it, I could take Smith's right now. I looked through the turn logs but I didn't see anything.

I never build regular units, not even in my solo games before I started playing SGs... regular units are only when you have to. I had a feeling about the egyptian attack from SC. How bad was it?

I don't even remember setting up, or talking about setting up a prebuild for anything. Maybe a player set it up, and forgot to tell the team about it? Take Smiths, unless something better is going to come along anytime soon.

I can take Bach's or Smith's. Smith's will help our income. Bach's will too since we can forget about ever having to our the lux slider again.

I think Cleo just wanted to exercise her Crusaders, we went one for two at a northern core city. She is about to get spanked very hard. She was a naughty girl.

Lay waste to another Celtic town and take and hold Gergovia in order to form another army with Eric Bloodaxe as the leader. Swap Copenhagen to Palace and set research to Economics in 17 as Copenhagen will accumulate enough shields for Smith's in 20.

Didn't have MT at the time.

One Smith's Trading Company coming up :D We'll waste some shields, but it is ours.

We could have brought in Econ sooner but it was timed with the palace pre-build for Smiths.

Take Cleo and rip her in half. I really didn't expect her to come after us. I guess I'm naive.+

Pre-flight 1345 AD - Well the first time I played this game the F4 screen had seven faces on it. It is down to four.

I cancel the ROP with Abu. We are really in no position to start a war with Abu, so I will spend my turns setting up the next player.

Why do we have caravels fortified all over the map?

MM in nearly every city. Change Fauske from a court to a duct. A first ring fishing city isn’t going to need a court until it can produce more than one shield.

We continue to build military units in cities without barracks. For an investment of 20 shields you get AN EXTRA HP ON EVERY UNIT. Doesn’t that mean something?

We also have berserks fortified all over God’s green earth. Not sure what’s up there. Ahh… barb suppression.

Need to check the thread to find out what we’re building the palace for.

IBT – The Egyptians declared war on us. There goes those peaceful set up turns. Nagasaki falls.

1. 1350 AD – It appears Cleo has 29 cities, including Nagasake which she just captured. Let’s see what we can do about that.
I just happen to have boatloads of zerks just outside Mendes. A zerk army kills the musket and a zerk out of a boat takes the city.
Curovernum is nearby so we sail over and take that city with two zerks.

Spend 360 G upgrading knights to cavs. Spend 270G upgrading 3 pikes.

Wake up a bunch of cavs and capture Giza. Our only loss is a reg cav who couldn’t take a regular musket.

Massive amounts of maneuvering.

Change the palace over to Smith’s we waste 69 shields.

IBT – A LB lands next to New York. A couple of Crusaders sally forth.
We build two workers, Smith’s, two settlers, a duct.

2. 1355 AD – Kill the LB.

Our Zerk army autorazes This.

@ Odense – We lose one vet cav and take the city along with a Japanese and an Aztec worker.

Capture a fort south of Hieraconpolis.

Found Stockholm in the former Celtic lands.

IBT – Pretty fierce battle for Hiera’s fort. We lose a musket. Cleo loses three Crusaders.
Build a cav, a musket, a market and a worker.

3. 1360 AD – The Aztecs are filling in the former Celtic lands faster than we can. We will have to reconquer all of this again. We’re not even halfway to domination, so that really isn’t an issue.

Capture Kahun.
Found Stavanger in the Celtic lands.

Capture Buto with Zerks.

Pithom falls to the axes of the Zerks.

Found Falun.

Attack Bubastis with a zerk and autoraze it.

Allow our cavs to heal before pushing on to the next mainland city.

At El-Asnsomething, our MDI wins and our knight retreats.

Our settler nearly runs into an Egyptian settler pair just south of Falun. We’ll have an army over there next turn.

IBT – We lose another musket at the fort.
Build a cav,

4. 1365 AD - @ Heliopolis (sing it with me – “I…I…I…I Ain’t gonna play Sun City!” On the third attack we get this message:
RW-Heliopolisleader.jpg

Leif Ericsson creates an army. Run out of units. Lose one cav retreat three others. Our cav army will be there soon to help.

@ El Alnsomething we kill a spear, but the knight needs to heal.

@ Edfu – we capture the city, but a SOD of 14 LBs and 3 spears are two tiles away.

@ Avaris – we capture Cleo’s iron without loss.

@ EL-Amarna – We lose two zerks and take the city. Cleo now has 18 cities. I hope Nagasaki was worth it.

To Be Continued…..

Le's see...that's 10 cities in four turns, or is it 11, in exchange for the momentary pleasure of a little jungle town.

Reminds me of something G.K.Chesterton once wrote: "The position is ridiculous, the pleasure transitory, and the consequences lifelong."

Bugsy you call that a little spanking? I'd hate to be your kid... :p

Nothing to add, but have fun, and try and promote the reg through trial by fire.;)

I have had some success promoting the regulars, buy treating them like elites. I have been attacking when they have the most chance of winning and have promoted about four. Sorry I spouted off. I just got frustrated seeing regulars being built.

Most of the builds were in towns we recently captured. One doesn't have to accept what the computer recommends building. I've seen the computer recommend building a sword when I was in the Modern Age.

Actually, I'm still playing. I just posted an interim report. I probably won't play a full ten turns. These are pretty time consuming.

Sorry Bugs. Didn't mean to try and short you on your turns. It just seemed that the accomplishments over your first five were enough for ten.

Take your time and play out your ten if you would like even if it is a bit time consuming.

IBT – Cleo is hurting from the spanking. She wants us to stop. She’ll give us either a city or Printing Press for peace. I tell her I’m going to use a cat o’ nine tails and she runs away and hides.
A large SOD of LBs move next to Edfu. I’ll abandon the city. Two knights are outside Hakedate.
We build three temples, a cav, a caravel.
Arabs start on Newton’s

5. 1370 AD – Edfu is abandoned. We see an Egyption Chariot/settler pair. The chariot retreats from our zerk and we collect two more slaves.

We load up our army with three vet cavs, dub the unit “Bugsy’s Chargers” and march off to Heliopolis.

@ Heliopolis – We lose three cavs in a bloody battle, but we take the city and Knights Templar, plus six slaves, four used to be settlers.

@ Thebes – Lose a vet cav.

@ El-Ashmun – We kill the spear and capture the city.

@ Pi-Ramesses – These muskets are tough on our zerks we lose two, but take the city.

I abandon Hakedate after trying to kill the knight on the doorstep. A pretty :smoke: move on my part.

Find another knight forted in a far away city and upgrade him.

Cleo is down to 11 mainland cities and three offshore cities.

Since I don’t want Abu to get too far ahead in tech, I purchase Physics for Econ & 225G. With won’t accelerate the tech pace, just keep up with him. I also select ToG, which he already has, so we don’t get magnetism before he does.

IBT – The Egyptian SOD shows up out side of Pithom. It is interesting that Cleo is interested more in reclaiming these distant cities, while I chew up her core.

6. 1375 AD – Found Helsinki south of Heliopolis.
@ Thebes – One heroic vet musket manages to not only kill our 10/13 Zerk Army , but also a MDI. After much bloodshed, the city and the Hanging Gardens join our Viking Feudal System.

@ Buhen – The city is autorazed by our troops.

Found Thingvellir and Keflavik in our new Celtic lands.

IBT – Avaris is recaptured. We’ll raze it next time.
We build three cavs and a temple. Resistance ends in several cities. We’ll start with the whip.

7 . 1380 AD I abandon Buto.

Avaris is autorazed. We’ll probably lose the Zerk on the IBT since there is a stack of LBs right next door. However Cleo doesn’t have any iron.

Whip a temple in Heliopolis and a barracks in Odense.

Found Selfoss.

IBT – Pi-Ramasses flips, we lose one vet zerk.
Build a temple, a barracks, and a couple of cavs.

8. 1385 AD - @ Abydos – RNG turns bad and we lose three zerks while inflicting a total of two hp damage. I move another caravel closer and we get:

RW_Abydos_Leader.jpg

We get Canute back with a caravel and create an army. Continue to attack and find out that Cleo got a leader in the battle also. Ours is still alive, her’s isn’t. It was a bloody battle and we lost four zerks total.

We recapture Pi-Ramasses.

IBT – We get our first crusader. Build a cav.

9. 1390 AD – This will be my last turn, I think. This is a bit time consuming, but a lot of fun.

@ Memphis – the sole defender dies to our cav.

@ Hieraconopolis the sole defender falls to a zerk.

@ Alexandria – we lose two cavs, red line the rest and capture the Great Lighthouse.

Found Hafnafjordur – Added to our list because I liked the Kentucky Fried Chicken there.

After Action – By next turn you should have enough zerk outside of Elephantine to take it. The Musket have been tough though.

You’ll need to add some cavs to the army. Don’t think that Cleo is gassed because there is a force of about 20 LBs marching from the east.

@Bugs,

Must feel good to be the one wielding the battleaxe after Ank06, eh?

 Well done, though I do prefer mine rare.

I think those poor Egyptians absorbed all the frustrations pent up from Ankka's game. :viking:

I think Cleo is trying to take a city that's far away because it has rubber or oil, or some other such resource for later in the game... wonder which it is.

Awesome job, did more damage on those 9 turns then I've seen in a *LONG* time. I lost count of how many cities were taken... 20? Amazing!

This is my got it. Should be able to play tommorow.:)
