This game will be on Raz+Craterus's Earth map.

Instead of being an "accurate" world map full of useless Siberian steppes and a gigantic Pacific Ocean, this scenario is intended to have roughly equal areas for each civ and distort the map as needed. For example Mexico, Central America, and South America are the same size as they each have one civ. Areas with no civs (like Central Africa, Siberia, Canada, the Amazon, and the oceans) are drastically reduced.

We will be playing as Romans with 30 other civs on Emperor. Acceptable victories are Domination and Space Race.

I hope to do this justice :D

4000 B.C. Rome sweet Rome! We set research to Writing. Rome will not a be a good settler factory but we have some goody huts nearby that we will grab when our borders expand.

3600 B.C. Contact with Greece (BW, Pottery, CB), France (Masonry, CB) and Spain (Masonry, CB). We trade Warrior Code to all three. This might be a mistake, but I'm afraid of falling behind in the Emperor tech race.

3500 B.C. Rome expands, popping the two goody huts and giving us a Settler! Sweeeet. We also contact Portugal and set Rome to push a Settler in 10 turns.

3350 B.C. We plonk down Salernum near two Cattle. Contact with Hittites who have shared The Wheel with our neighbors. No way to get it as we used up our gold. Portugal seems to have 4+ Warriors already.

3100 B.C. Contact Russia and Netherlands.

3050 B.C. We nearly lose a Warrior defeating a Barbarian Camp. Contact Germany who is very rich. Everyone is up The Wheel on us, Hittites also have Mysticism.

3000 B.C. Rome pops Settler. Russia and Germany seem to be at war. Contact Byzantines, they are down Masonry.

2850 B.C. Contact with England, they are behind. We settle Aquileia which will use the Cattle to produce our third Settler. We switch Rome and Salernum to Temple and Barracks.

2710 B.C. Contact with the Mongols - they are very advanced (The Wheel, Ironworking, Writing, and Mysticism). We get a Worker from Germany for 96g+2gpt. Then trade Masonry+2gpt to England for The Wheel. We keep researching Writing (25 turns left) as it is pointless switching to Mathematics.

2550 B.C. We're sending one Warrior to map out Spain and Portugal, and another to contact Eastern civs.

2430 B.c. Salernum pops a Settler and begins a Curragh to contact the Mediterranean civs. Contact China. Everyone is ahead of us with Writing, Mysticism, and Iron Working.

2310 B.C. Contact Korea. We found Palermo and get started on a Temple right away as it is close to Carthage.

1990 B.C. With our next Settler we have founded Massilia, bringing us up to five cities. Salernum is working on one more Settler to plant a trans-Adriatic colony. We have contacted Carthage, they are ahead of us too.

1910 B.C. Contact with Egypt, Babylon, and Sumeria.

1710 B.C. Contact with China. The volcano near Messana erupts but luckily spares the city. We discover Writing (finally) and go shopping for the best deal on Iron Working. Mao gives it to us for 90g+3gpt. We have 3 Iron nearby and as it happens our road through Italy has already connected one.

1625 B.C. Contact with an Arab Scout. Our cities are trying to get Legionaries built asap.

1550 B.C. Contact with Persia and India. Gandhi doesn't have Writing!

1500 B.C. We found Salona on the east coast of the Adriatic. Gandhi gives us Mysticism, Mathematics and Horseback Riding for Writing, 60g+5gpt. France and Carthage enter the Medieval Era!

1350 B.C. We are behind in tech. It's time to take our Legionaries to war, grab some cities and "negotiate" our way to tech parity. Spain is a possibility, but Isabella has guarded the Pyrenees mountains (a 2 square choke point on this map) with a garrison of multiple Warriors.

France is the obvious target. With no Iron in their territory, they can't have Pikemen yet. Their lands are rich and I can put the Forbidden Palace in Paris.

Next time... war!

1300 B.C. Our workers get started on a road towards France while our military buildup continues. So far 7 Legionaries and 1 Catapult.

1125 B.C. With 9 Legions and 2 Catapults, the plan is to take out the three largest French cities in a series of maneuvers designed to avoid fighting across rivers and mountains. We will spare the last city in return for tech. Our Curragh has reconnoitered the French defenses and found they are relying on Spearmen as expected.

1075 B.C. As our Legions move up into position, we encounter the Celts. They are as far back as we are. We trade Mathematics for Map-Making, the beginning of a useful alliance I hope.

1000 B.C. WAR!! Our brave legions advance deep into French territory. In 975 B.C. Lyons falls and is renamed Lugdunum. In 925 Paris (now Lutetia) falls with the sacrifice of a single Legion.

900 B.C. We discover Philosophy and pay the Celts 120g for Code of Laws. Republic isn't far away now... in 875 B.C. we accomplish the fall of Orleans, renamed Germania. Our Legions menace the last French outpost... a little village on the Armorican coast....'

But Asterix is not there to save the French, and they sign peace on our terms: The Republic, Polytheism, Construction, Currency, Literature, and a Worker! Just like that, Rome is a Medieval power.

825 B.C. We overthrow Despotism and fall into Anarchy... the disorder lasts a long time. In the meantime we have popped a Settler from Rome to fill the unused land in France with a new city, Helvetia.

690 B.C. Finally, we become a Republic.

590 B.C. We're earning about +65gpt. The money goes to rush Temples in all our French conquests. The Byzantine city of Nicaea is pushing very hard on our eastern borders, maybe we'll go pay them a visit soon...

470 B.C. After rushing a Courthouse, we begin a Forbidden Palace (29 turns) in Lutetia. Meanwhile our Galley is rounding the African coast and contacts the Zulu, the last of our Old World neighbors. This seems like a good place to stop for now.

I'm restarting this game for 3 reasons:

1. The early Settler from the goody hut gave me too much of an unfair advantage.
2. Rome has Iron but none of its neighbors do, this makes conquest too easy. I conquered Greece and Spain and am #1 in world score.

But most importantly

3. There was an error in the map that allowed England to contact the New World before Navigation.

For the restarted game I will still be doing Emperor, but with a fixed map and as Sumeria. Should be a challenge! :D
