FRIENDS, UNKNOWN PEOPLE, BUT FELLOW CITIZENS, HERE MY CALL!
Are you not sure as to what's going on? Have you recently joined Fanatica (such as I)? Do you wonder what all the writing and discussions are about? In other words do you feel absolutely clueless  but want to truely be part of Fanatica?
Then fear not my fellow citizens!
I much like you have recently joined this nation and I, probably much like you, have not fully begun to comprehend all this writing and what it truely means. So I bring my plea to you fellow clueless citizens, fear not that you do not understand, for this is why I post! Bring your comments, you experiences, and most importantly, your questions! For as the old saying goes, the only thing stupid about a question is not asking it.
Here I hope we can begin to understand what lies in our nation. Old members and brand new ones will hopefully answer your questions, so please ask away!

Is this a FAQ thread?
As this is the very first question posted, the literal answer is not yet

Seriously, though, there aren't that many people who ask questions frequently here on the DG forum. There ARE a number of people who have been here for several years (some of them on and off. BTW, I have only been here since last September, so I am relatively new here too :) ) The 'Old' people know their way around and have a tendency to abreviate things. They talk about PI's (now referred to as Citizen Complaints - CCs) and the CoS/CoL/Constitution come up a lot in Judicial hearings :crazyeye:

If you came to this thread looking for some quick pointers you can read about the DemoGame on the Web site.

If you like what you see, you can join the DG by adding you name and particulars in the Citizen Registry. Don't expect someone to ask for your participation; that is up to you. Grab a 'shovel', join the 'labourers' in the fields, dig into reading the forums.

If you have a legal mind, you might want to bone up on the three books: Constitution, Code of Standards (CoS), Code of Laws(CoL) before you run for office.

And if you have questions about simple things like abreviations or other cryptic things the 'old' guys are typing, ask here. Or ask in the CivFanatics Chat room. Or make your own thread in the Citizens Sub forum with a specific discussion question.

Just don't sit back and puzzle it out for your self.

Go ahead.

Ask away.

yeah, this is a good thread i always thought the demo-game has too much info to grasp, it took me quite a bit of time to get the gist of it. Only two more questions for now:

1) Who controls the building queues?

2) Do citizens have the right to open polls in the "polls" section?

Hey, just had a new thought, why not make this a citizen group. We would represent the newcomers, welcome everybody into the game, and support democracy and freedom of speech, and a transparent government system.

call it something like: Modern Democratic Association

The Governors of each Province determine and post the build queues in the Turn Chat Instruction Thread. The make them by themselves, or they gather suggestions from others, or both.

Any Citizen can post a poll. Be sure you're not duplicating a previous poll when doing so, or steppeing on anyone else's toes by taking over their jurisdiction.

Actually I had that thought too. Somebody SHOULD make this a citizens group. I like the title too. I appoint...

You, Will_518.

1) Build Queues: queues are controlled by the Govenor of each province. We currently only have one province: Berry. You can find government structure info in this thread. In the last demogame there were Mayors responsible for build queues. I thought there were supposed to be mayors in this DG too, but I haven't heard about any yet. I want to be a Mayor and suggest build queues to my Governor.

2) I believe the Constitution allows any Citizen to post a poll. I don't think the poll is 'Official' or 'binding' if an ordinary citizen posts it, but it will constitute the will of the people and our leaders will probably sit up and take note if there is a quorum (sp?). If the people are STILL not being heard, a Citizen Complaint can be filed in a Judicial Review thread in the Citizens SubForum

My turn

I need a legal opinion from the Justice Department I think.

If (I said IF) I had a concern about something in the game what would my avenues of redress. Specifically, where would I post, who would I PM, and are there different levels of 'complaint'?

I know that this information is in the three books, but I don't want to wade through all that for a simple question.

Sections L and M of the Code of Standards (CoS) (the very last Sections in the very last of the Three Books) cover Citizen Complaints and Judicial Reviews. :)

Citizen Complaints are a Judicial process, whereby any Citizen can file a Complaint against another Citizen if they feel they have been wronged by that Citizen, and have a Law to back them up.
CoS Section L explains how to go about filing a Complaint and what happens thereafter.

A Judicial Review (JR) covers an examination of an existing law or a proposed law (one that will go to the polls for Citizens to approve or shoot down). These reviews ususally take place because of a procedural issue (someone thinks someone else didn't follow the rules), but they are not limited to that. JR's can simply just be reviewing a law to see if it is contrary to higher legislation (Is it unconstitutional?) or or just to backwards to keep on the books.

Did I answer your questions?

The Books miss alot of information though, we you sit down and stare at them for a awhile. Of course, they can not be perfect, and we've just got to keep adding on and revising as time progress's.
