Random Events Animation

While viewing a thread on natural disasters, I realized something that should be implemented into Civ5: random events should have visual effects. For example, the tower shield event (cover to Axemen in BtS) could cause your axemen to hold their axe in one hand and have a large shield in the other. It seems like this would be a way to distinguish your civilizations if random events are still used in Civ5.

Interesting idea. I don't know how difficult it would be to incorporate it, though.

I hope they don't use random events. Random events promote a negative game system.

A simple "no random events" button (just like they had in IV) solves that complaint.

I enjoyed the mix of good/bad events that could occur in games, though I had them off most of the time.

EDIT: on topic, I think if random events are in, animations would be a little unnecessary. In your example each time a military unit gets a random bonus it gets a visual upgrade, well then each time a normal unit gains a normal combat upgrade it would also have to get a new animation. There would be to many needless animations. On the other hand, when things like a volcanoe random event occur, a small animation then might be interesting.

it wouldn't be that difficult. A few civ4 mods already made some visual adjustments to units based on promotions. FFH I'm sure, I think perhaps dune wars as well. maybe others. Probably something better left to the mods I think anyhow. It would be great to be in vanilla, but something like that is a resource hog for the value I would guess.

well according to one interview it looks like random events are out. (they said that it encouraged reloading to get rid of nasty effects)
