Well its only to a certain extent, and since i go to such a small school there is not enough teachers to let you take every combination of classes that you might want. I wanted to take 3 sciences but since there are only 3 science teachers and one isin't there in the morning then there was no way i could schedule all three so i had to drop one for another math. Also when i say you can take any class you want, most of the classes aren't appealing to a geeky 17 year old boy, i never really liked industrial arts and parenting don't even make me laugh.
Yeah, but still way better - I can't choose anything at all.
The only way for me to choose is to go to a specialized high school (which I'm doing, music high school - 1 more year and I'm done with it

). This is the only way for me to do SOME stuff that interests me and that I couldn't do otherwise, however, the curriculum of each year is identical for all high schools of this specialization throughout the country.
I really think we should be able to choose for ourselves more than the 0 freedom in this that we have now.
For example, I'm not interested in chemistry at all - yet until last year I was forced to take two classes a week and have an end-year examination, yet I'm 100% sure I'll NEVER use it in my life!
Same with "political economics" (don't ask

incredibly stupid subject, you learn absolutely nothing in there), "computer science" (don't get me wrong, I love computers, I'm programming and making graphics out of pleasure - the only problem is that the only thing we learn is how to use Windows and we spent 2 hours on what "shut down" means), biology (which simply doesn't interest me too much) and many others. Then again, many people in my class hated mathematics and physics - but I loved them, although I hated chemistry with a passion. Which leads me back to the conclusion that
I really think we should be able to choose for ourselves at least part of the subjects we take.
So yeah, lucky bastards.
